1、如何有效进行英语语调教学 本研究旨在通过对英语专业学生的调查,了解英语专业学生在英语语调学习中选择的学习策略,确定英语专业学生语调学习策略的使用情况与语调学习效果间的关系,弄清高低两种语音水平学习者在学习策略使用上的差异,从而指导任课教师改善语调教学方法,帮助学生取得理想的学习效果。 语调 语调教学 语调学习策略 Abstract This study, based on a wealth of intonation theories, is a preliminary exploration through which the paper attempts to gain some insi
2、ghts into the effective strategies used by Chinese English majors on intonation learning. And it also tries to bring some suggestions and implications for the English intonation teaching at college in order to help the students acquire a satisfactory English intonation. In this thesis, learning stra
3、tegies used by English majors were investigated, the relationship between strategy use and language proficiency in English intonation was examined, and the main differences in strategy use between high-proficiency and low-proficiency learners were identified. 4、tion; intonation learning strategies 1 Introduction It has been observed that incorrect English intonation has a particular significance in spoken interaction, since wrong intonation not only may make the speech sound strange, but also lead to misunderstanding. The importance of intonation is that a
5、pparent, but the practical teaching of intonation is no easy matter. What to include and what not to in the teaching of intonation to learners of English has caused uncertainty and lack of confidence. This research attempts to gain some insights into the effective strategies used by Chinese English
6、majors on intonation learning. It is presumed that the appropriate use of learner strategies can help students not only become better and more autonomous language learners, but also gain a definite asset for their future language competence, and the following questions will be addressed 1)Which stra
7、tegies are applied frequently by English majors when they learn intonation during the one-year study? 2)Are there some difference in strategies using on intonation learning between the skilled learners and unskilled learners? If there are, what are they? 2 Intonation Learning Strategies Intonation l
8、earning strategies are broadly understood as operations and procedures employed by learners to facilitate the acquisition, storage, retrieval, and use of information in their intonation learning. Though different learners use different learning strategies in their intonation learning, there are some
9、 universal ones a good learner must follow Memory strategies; Cognitive strategies; Metacognitive strategies; Social strategies. The following suggested are some specific measures beneficial to intonation acquisition in a broad sense. In the process of intonation learning 1. Be aware of the learning
10、 purpose and style. 2. Be fully involved in the learning process. 3. Pay constant attention to improving skills on uses of tones. 4. Develop English intonation as a system highly correlated with phonetics. 5. Adopt communicative approach. A good study and awareness of them is sure to benefit student
11、 learning and facilitate teachers teaching as well. 3 Methods for Investigating Intonation Learning Strategies 3.1 Subjects The subjects of Questionnaire and the Test were from two classes of first-year English majors at North Sichuan Medical College. According to the scores obtained in the examinat
12、ion, 24 students who got the score more than 80 were put into high-proficiency group and 31 students who got less than 59 were put into low-proficiency group respectively. 3.2 Research Procedures The data for this study were collected from a questionnaire based on intonation acquisition. Students ar
13、e asked to indicate the frequency with which they use a strategy on intonation learning implied in the statement by selecting the number that represents their response. The higher number indicates a more frequent use of the strategy concerned. The material of written test was composed of eight short
