9、eceptors are activated by many different pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs). 17、nsors of bacterial infection. NOD1 recognizes -glutamyl diaminopimelic acid (iE-DAP), a breakdown product of Gram-negative bacterial cell walls. NOD2 seems to have a more specialized role, being strongly expressed in the Paneth cells of the gut, where it regulates the expression of potent antimicrobial peptides such as the - and -defensins.,
