10、piping and ducting systems Injection-moulded thermoplastics fittings Test method for visually assessing effects of heating, published by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). It is incorporated into BS 2782 Methods of testing plastics Part 11: Thermoplastics pipes, fittings and valves, a
11、s Methods 1103A: and B:1995, so that method 1103A corresponds to method A of EN 763:1994 and method 1103B corresponds to method B of EN 763:1994. Method 1103A is a revision of BS 2782-11:Method 1103A:1982, which is withdrawn. The principal changes with respect to the 1982 edition of Method 1103A (wh
12、ich are not expected to have a significant effect on the results obtained) are as follows: a) there is no longer a requirement for conditioning for at least 30 min at (23 2) C prior to testing; b) there is no longer a specific requirement for measurements to be made to an accuracy of 0.1 mm; c) whil
13、st the results calculated continue to be the depth of crack penetration as a percentage of the relevant wall thickness, the results from injection points are no longer designated by the symbol T and those from interior- or end-ring gates are no longer designated by the letters D or C respectively; d
14、) the test report does not require details of the number of fittings in the production batch; e) guidance is provided, in Annex A, on the specification of heating times of PVC-U fittings as a function of wall thickness and temperature. Method 1103B introduces the option of carrying out the test in a
15、 liquid bath instead of the air oven used in method A. In the event of methods A and B not giving identical results, method A is designated as the reference method in cases of dispute. These test methods are incorporated into BS 2782 for association with related test methods for plastics materials a

They have been implemented to enable experience of the method to be gained and for use for other fresh applications.
17、They are also for use for the revision or amendment of other national standards as practicable, but they should not be presumed to apply to any existing standard or specification which contains or makes reference to a different test method, or a previous edition of these test methods, until that sta

Method 1103A:1982 of BS 2782 is now obsolescent and will be withdrawn when no longer required to support national standards, specifically BS 4576-1:1989, BS 4660:1989 and BS
