2、lectrical substa- tions and generating plants and in installations of power utilization and conversion apparatus are covered. The purpose of the numbers is discussed, and 94 numbers are assigned. The use of prefixes and suffixes to provide a more specific definition of the function is considered. De

Furthermore, the
8、viewpoint expressed at the time a standard is approved and issued is subject to change brought about through developments in the state of the art and comments received from users of the standard. Every IEEE Standard is subjected to review at least every five years for revision or reafir- mation. Whe
9、n a document is more than five years old and has not been reaffirmed, it is reasonable to conclude that its contents, al- though still of some value, do not wholly reflect the present state of the art. Users are cautioned to check to determine that they have the latest edition of any IEEE Standard.
10、Comments for revision of IEEE Standards are welcome from any interested party, regardless of membership affiliation with IEEE. Suggestions for changes in documents should be in the form of a pro- posed change of text, together with appropriate supporting comments. Interpretations: Occasionally quest
11、ions may arise regarding the meaning of portions of standards as they relate to specific applica- tions. When the need for interpretations is brought to the attention of IEEE, the Institute will initiate action to prepare appropriate re- sponses. Since IEEE Standards represent a consensus of all con
12、- cerned interests, it is important to ensure that any interpretation has also received the concurrence of a balance of interests. For this reason IEEE and the members of its technical committees are not able to pro- vide an instant response to interpretation requests except in those cases where the

16、r System Device Function Numbers. Definitions of some device functions have been improved for present applica- tions, and additional suggested suffix letters have been indicated. Previous revisions were ap- proved as standards in 1987,1979,1962,1956,1945, and 1937. The original work on this subject
17、was done by the American Institute of Electrical Engineers and published in 1928 as AIEE No. 26. Preparation of this standard was done by a working group of the Data Acquisition, Processing, and Control Systems Subcommittee, Substations Committee.
