Introduction Telecommunication operating companies generally agree on the requirements that control the per
9、formance of telephone loops, a major factor in the overall performance of the network. This control has been accom- plished through a combination of techniques, which depend on the characteristics of the commonly used telephone sets and loop facility design rules. However, no industry performance st
10、andards have resulted. With the increasingly innovative application of emerging technologies and the current trend toward the interconnect of privately-owned devices with the public network, it is essential that appropriate standards be established. This is one such standard. This standard will prov
11、ide for the characterization of loops at customer terminal and switching equipment interfaces and the objective performance evaluation of loop facilities. This standard was originally prepared in 1984 by the Loop Performance Working Group of the IEEE Trans- mission Systems Committee of the IEEE Comm
12、unications Society. This Working Group later merged with the Inductive Coordination Electrical Protection (ICEP) subcommittee, then became part of the Communica- tions Society Transaccess Committee. Over time, most of the members of the ICEP SC moved to the Wire- line Subcommittee, under the Power S
13、ystem Communications Committee (PSCC) of the IEEE Power Engi- neering Society. The Wire-line Subcommittee assumed ownership of this standard during the reaffirmation process in 1999. This standard was revised and updated by the Wire-line Subcommittee of the Power System Communica- tions Committee of
14、 the IEEE Power Engineering Society.
