We minimize cost through standardization of raw material, tooling concepts and production methodology, and investment in state-of-the-art cold heading and secondary processing technology. Our products are designed to meet ASME and
3、 ISO standards. Our internal production processes are controlled by continuous in- process monitors and are certifi ed to international standards ISO/TS 16949:2002 and ISO 90041:2000. Starting with an analysis of your product and assembly objectives, Spirol Engineers contribute to the best pin desig
4、n for your application, giving consideration to performance requirements, ease of production, automatic feeding and orientation, and installation. The replacement of costly machined components is one of our specialties. Standard Solid Pins and Drive Studs Specifying standard solid pins provides the
5、lowest cost and the most responsive delivery. Tooling and raw material are available to meet your production requirements for all standard parts. Our standard solid pins, along with design considerations, are described on pages 2 through 5. Pre-Designed Specials Spirol offers variations of our stand
6、ard solid pins and drive studs that have been tested and proven in a variety of applications. They are generally not available from stock and are made to customer order. Our pre-designed specials, along with design considerations, are described on pages 6 through 8. Custom Specials You can rely on S
7、pirol to be a design partner that helps solve unique problems. Because we supply numerous customers with similar products in similar industries, we are able to meet most needs with our standard products at no additional cost. When the solution falls outside the normal requirements, we have the exper
8、tise and engineering personnel to solve those problems. By working with you at the design stage, we will develop a solution that lowers your overall product cost, improves product quality, increases the robustness of your manufacturing process, and gets you to market faster. 9、 information on our capabilities. Free Application Engineering Designing the correct interference fi t between the host and the pin can be challenging. The recommended hole will change depending on the length of engagement and the hardness of the host material. The recommended holes in the product c
10、harts are listed for typical applications. We encourage you to use our free application engineering service to recommend a hole based on your specifi c application. DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS RETENTION MECHANICS “Press fi t fasteners” is a term used to describe fasteners that retain themselves in the ass
11、embly by the friction between the pin and host. The majority of our solid pin products fi t into this category. Retention mechanics is one of the most important aspects of recommending the correct pin for an application. 1 Knurled Pins Knurled Pins are retained in the hole by cutting into the softer
12、 host material. The pin should always be harder than the host. A knurled pin offers numerous points of contact in the host which distributes the radial stress in a uniform fashion. A 30 helical knurl causes the pin to rotate as it enters the hole and has more surface contact with the host. This resu
13、lts in higher friction forces, greater engagement and resistance to back out. Helical Grooved Pins Helical Grooved Pins provide reliable press-fi t retention in hardened host materials and are excellent for use in applications requiring high shear strength. The raised portions of the pin have a low,
14、 fl at, uniform profi le that extends around the majority of the pin resulting in a cylindrical expanded outside diameter. The more uniform and larger surface features of a helical grooved pin are far less likely to damage the host hole or to be sheared off during assembly. These pins offer lower in
15、sertion forces and more consistent retention performance over alternative hardened pins. For standard series, standard material is provided in the specifi cation tables. For pre-designed
17、specials, recommended material is provided in the notes. MATERIALS 60 for Straight Pins Spirol Straight Pins are pre-designed pins made to order. They are distinguished by their uniformity, consistently high CPKs, and the absence of defects such as nibs and burrs. The chamfered ends are more consist
18、ent than tumbled edgesmaking installation with automatic assembly equipment more reliable. Straight pins are retained by compressing the host, not the pin. They are suitable for use in plastics for press-fi t applications limited to those cases where the host material can withstand compression in th
19、e order of .002” .003” (0.05mm 0.08mm). These pins are often used to replace ground dowels in applications that do not require the tight tolerances of a ground dowel. Our headed straight pins ar
21、e produced with the same uniformity and high CPK as our Series DP100 straight pins. Headed pins are used as axles or hinge pins when movement in one direction must be limited.
