ECS does not meet the chart carriage requirements for SO
20、LAS vessels where ECDIS has been specified for that purpose. ECDIS is specified in IEC 61174. ECS may be carried voluntarily by vessels not subject to SOLAS carriage requirements and may accepted by governments as a primary means of navigation for vessels that are subject to their regulation.
