7、of ANSI A156.15) The general classification of builders hardware includes a wide variety of items which are divided into several categories. To recognize this diversity, a sectional classification system has been established. Closer Holder Release Devices is one such section and this Standard is the
8、 result of the collective efforts of members of the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association, Inc., who manufacture these products. The total Product Standards effort is, therefore, a collection of sections, each covering a specific category of items. The BHMA recognizes that errors will be found
9、, items will become obsolete, and new products, methods and materials will be developed. With this in mind, the Association plans to update, correct and revise these Standards on a regular basis. The BHMA numbers which indicate type of hardware do not identify size, finish or design and are not inte
10、nded to be used without necessary supplementary information. 12、sers combined with holdopen devices or free swinging door closers combined with releasing devices and includes performance tests covering operational, cyclical and finish criteria. 1.2 Tests described in this Standard are performed under laboratory conditions. In actual usage, results vary because o
13、f installation, maintenance and environmental conditions. 1.3 Instructions shall be included with the product requiring the end users to, (1) test the product after installation in accordance with the manufacturers criteria, (2) periodically test the products in conjunction with the fire alarm syste
14、m and, (3) maintain the door closing system in working order. 2. DEFINITIONS 2.1 Adjustable Backcheck A cushioning feature of a door closer becoming effective between 60 and 85 degrees of door opening. 2.2 Closer Holder Release Device A floor, door or header mounted closing device connected with sep
15、arate or integral releasing and fire or smoke detecting devices. 2.3 ElectroMagnetic or ElectroMechanical Release Device A wall, floor or door mounted appliance that releases doors from an open position for simultaneous closing upon signal from a smoke detector or other source. 2.4 Free Swinging Rel
16、ease A function where the opening and closing control of a door closer is de energized until a signal is received from a smoke detector or other source when the closer then performs its normal function and closes the door. 2.5 HoldOpen In this Standard, a device used in connection with a door closin
17、g device holding the door in an open position against the closing force. 2.6 MultiplePoint HoldOpen A holdopen device holding the door in more than one holdopen position without manual adjustment. (Consult manufacturers catalogs for ranges of holdopen points available.) 2.7 SinglePoint HoldOpen A ho
18、ldopen device holding the door open in one selective position. 3. GENERAL 3.1 These products shall allow swinging doors to close upon receiving a signal in fire or smoke emergencies. 3.2 Upon activation by a signal to the holdopen or free swinging release device, the door shall become selfclosing. 3
19、.3 These products shall have been tested and listed for use on fire door assemblies by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) and shall be under a followup inplant inspection service. 3.4 These products with electrical components shall have been tested and listed by a NRTL and shall be un
20、der a followup inplant inspection service. Holders are available in 115 volts AC, 24 volts AC or DC and 12 volts AC or DC. Consult manufacturers catalogs. 3.5 Electrical wiring of these products shall be in accordance with the National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70) for the appropriate class of circ
21、uit. -,-,- 6 3.6 Values Required values in this Standard are expressed in U.S. units. SI (metric) unit equivalents are approximate. All values which do not carry specific tolerances or are not marked maximum or minimum shall have the following tolerances: Linear dimension shall be 1/16 in (1.6 mm).
22、Pounds or pound force shall be 2 percent. Degrees of opening shall be 2 degrees. 3.7 Reference to other Standards. 23、.8.1 Closer Holder Release devices are categorized as singlepoint holdopen, multiplepoint holdopen or free swinging release devices. 3.8.2 Closers incorporating a holdopen device shall be capable of being instantly taken out of holdopen manually by simple and obvious means and the door shall become
24、selfclosing. 3.8.3 Closers incorporating the free swinging release device shall, while in the free swinging mode prior to release, permit the door to be manually closed at any time. 3.8.4 Detectors which sense the visible or invisible particles of combustion incorporated in these products shall have
