The second largest producer of raw glycerin for the year was the U.S. at 810.5 million pounds, with Brazil
14、and Argentina coming in third and fourth. China continues to be the strongest importer for both raw and refined glycerin, capturing just under 30% of the market in 2009. U.S. refined glycerin production will see a slight increase from 289.6 million pounds in 2009 to an estimated 310.5 million pounds
15、 in 2010. Raw glycerin production will be almost half of 2009 levels at an estimated 462.4 million pounds for 2010 as a result of lowered biodiesel production. However, Thailand has grown from virtually zero in 2007 to become the second largest lactic acid producer in the world behind China at an estimated 271.0 million pounds in 2010. In fact, Thailand is
