15、 to the following British Standards: BS 729, Zinc coatings on iron and steel articles Part 1. Hot-dip galvanized coatings. BS 1344, Methods of testing vitreous enamel finishes Part A2. Resistance to culinary acids. BS 1449, Steel plate, sheet and strip. This British Standard has been revised under t
16、he authority of the Hardware and Ironmongery Industry Standards Committee. The opportunity has been taken to specify the materials in accordance with the present day supply position, amend sundry descriptive terms, and extend the nominal size range. The standard has been expanded to include requirem
17、ents for “vitreous enamelled” as an alternative finish. NOTEMetric equivalents are given in Appendix A. The figures in British units are to be regarded as the standard. The metric conversions are approximate. More accurate conversions should be based on the tables in BS 350, “Conversion factors and
18、tables”. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. 21、ters, rainwater pipes, fittings and accessories. ii) Heavy pressed steel gutters. Section 1. Light pressed steel gutters, rainwater pipes, fittings and accessories 2 General This section of the standard covers: 1) Pressed steel half-round and O.G. rainwater gutters and fittings not exceeding 6 in no
22、minal size. 2) Pressed steel rainwater pipes and fittings not exceeding 4 in nominal size. 3) Accessories. 3 Definitions For the purposes of this standard, the following definitions apply: 3.1 left hand O.G. gutter or O.G. gutter fitting a gutter or gutter fitting shall be deemed to be left hand if,
23、 when the observer is facing the moulded or splayed side, the socket projects to the left 3.2 right hand O.G. gutter or O.G. gutter fitting a gutter or gutter fitting shall be deemed to be right hand if, when viewed as above, the socket projects to the right 3.3 fittings this term refers to the foll
24、owing articles: i) For use with gutters: Outlets, angles and stop ends. ii) For use with pipes: Offsets, bends and shoes. 3.4 accessories this term refers to the following articles: i) Gutter brackets. ii) Bolts, nuts and washers. iii) Fixing screws. 4 Materials The material used in the manufacture
25、of light pressed gutters, gutter fittings, gutter brackets, down pipes and fittings shall be as follows: a) For galvanized finish. Mild steel sheet, coil or strip of a quality equivalent to Type En2, according to the requirements of BS 14491). b) For vitreous enamelling finish. Cold reduced sheet, c
26、oil or strip suitable for vitreous enamelling according to the requirements of BS 1449. The thickness of metal before either finish shall be: i) 18 B.G. (0.049 in, 1.257 mm) for gutters and gutter fittings, or a heavier grade if so specified by the purchaser. ii) 24 B.G. (0.024 in, 0.629 mm) for rai
27、nwater pipes and pipe fittings, or a heavier grade if so specified by the purchaser. 5 Workmanship The finished gutters, down pipes, fittings and accessories shall be true and smooth, and the ends shall be finished square to the axes. They shall be in all respects sound and free from imperfections t
28、hat render them unsuitable for their purpose. All holes shall be punched before the coating finish is applied. Down pipes and fittings shall be made with a seamed or welded joint. 6 Effective length Gutters and rainwater pipes shall be supplied in effective lengths of 6 ft, 4 ft and 3 ft, exclusive
29、of the socket unless otherwise specified. A tolerance of ! in shall be allowed on the length of an individual gutter or pipe, but the average length of any single batch of any one size of gutter or pipe shall not be less than the nominal length. 7 Dimensions The dimensions of gutters, gutter fitting
30、s, down pipes and pipe fittings shall be in accordance with the requirements of the appropriate tables and drawings, see Table 1 to Table 5 and Figure 1 to Figure 20. The nominal size of a down pipe or down pipe fitting shall be measured in terms of its internal diameter. The nominal size of a gutte
31、r or gutter fitting shall be the measurement between the internal edges at the top of the gutter or gutter fitting. 1) BS 1449, “Steel plate, sheet and strip”. 32、ets The sockets of gutter and pipe fittings shall conform to the dimensions laid down for gutters and pipes. The depth of the gutter socket shall be 1“ in for all sizes. The depth of pipe socket shall be 3 in for all sizes and the internal diameter of the socket shall be such that the spigot end can
33、 be inserted for the full length of the socket. Unless otherwise specified, ears shall be provided on all rainwater pipe sockets and, if flat, shall be of a thickness not less than 18 B.G. The ears shall be securely attached to the socket and shall be provided with holes of ) inch diameter. O.G. gut
34、ters and gutter fittings shall be supplied left hand unless otherwise specified. 9 Finish a) Galvanizing. i) Gutters, rainwater pipes, fittings and brackets, after fabrication shall be galvanized according to BS 729-12). ii) Steel bolts, nuts and washers used for jointing galvanized gutters and fixi
35、ng screws shall be protected as in i) above. b) Vitreous enamelling. i) Gutters, rainwater pipes, fittings and brackets that are vitreous enamelled after fabrication shall be tested in accordance with BS 1344-A23), and shall meet the requirements of Class B. ii) Brass nuts and bolts with lead washer
36、s shall be used for the jointing of gutters. Fixing screws shall also be of brass. iii) The colour finish shall be black or to other colours as specified. Reference may be made to BS 1358, “Colours for vitreous enamel finishes”. Section 2. Heavy pressed steel gutters 10 General This section of the s
37、tandard covers heavy pressed steel boundary wall, valley, box and half-round gutters of 15 inches and over in girth. 11 Definition For the purposes of this standard the following definition applies: girth the total length of the perimeter measured on the centre of thickness 12 Material The material
38、used in the manufacture of heavy pressed steel gutters shall be: a) For galvanizing or painted finish. Mild steel sheet, coil or strip of a quality equivalent to En2, according to the requirements of BS 14494). b) For vitreous enamelled finish. Steel plate, sheet, coil or strip, suitable for vitreou
39、s enamelling, according to the requirements of BS 14494). The thickness of gutters shall conform to the dimensions shown in Table 6. 13 Workmanship The finished gutters shall be true and smooth and the ends shall be finished square to their axes. They shall be in all respects sound and free from imp
40、erfections that render them unsuitable for their purpose. 14 Effective length Gutters shall be supplied in effective lengths as may be ordered exclusive of the socket. A tolerance of ! inch shall be allowed on the length of an individual gutter, but the average length of any single batch of one size
41、 of gutter shall be not less than the nominal length. 15 Dimensions Gutter shapes shall be in accordance with individual requirements. Gutter dimensions shall be as shown in Table 6. 16 Joints Joints in gutters shall be of the joggle type, the strapped type or the welded lapped type, as indicated in
42、 Figure 22, Figure 23 and Figure 24. 17 Finish a) Unless otherwise specified, gutters shall receive a coating of paint or a composition having a tar basis, as may be agreed, applied to the clean steel surface after suitable treatment to remove loose rust, scale or other contaminants. b) If specified
43、 to be galvanized the requirements in Clause 9 a) i) and ii) shall apply. c) If specified to be vitreous enamelled, the requirements in Clause 9 b) i), ii) and iii) shall apply. 2) BS 729, “Hot-dip galvanized coatings”. 3) BS 1344, “Methods of testing vitreous enamel finishes”, Part A2. 4) BS 1449,

General requirements 18 Compliance The manufacturer shall satisfy himself, and if so required shall provide a certificate to
45、 indicate, that the products comply with the requirements of this specification. When the customer or his representative wishes to witness the carrying out of the finishing procedure specified in Clause 9 this shall be stated in the enquiry and order. The customer or his representative shall be give
46、n reasonable facilities at the manufacturers works in the selecting of samples for testing and carrying out any testing agreed with the manufacturers. Any articles rejected by the purchaser or his representative on account of unsatisfactory finish, may at the option of the manufacturer, be re-proces
47、sed and re-submitted for inspection. 19 Marking Every gutter, rainwater pipe or fitting supplied as complying with this standard shall be legibly and indelibly marked BS 1091. NOTEThe mark BS 1091 on the product is a claim by the manufacturer that it complies with the requirements of the standard. T
48、he British Standards Institution is the owner of the registered certification trade mark shown below. This mark can be used only by manufacturers licensed under the certification mark scheme operated by the BSI. The presence of this mark on a product is an assurance that the goods have been produced
49、 to comply with the requirements of the British Standard under a system of supervision, control and testing operated during manufacture and including periodical inspections at the manufacturers works in accordance with the certification mark scheme of the BSI.
