19、y requirements for the design, manufacture, construction, modification, maintenance and operation of facilities used in the processing of commingled wastes and recyclable materials. It is a revision of the original safety standard, approved and published in 1997. It does not cover other types of fac
20、ilities such as, waste-to-energy plants, scrap processing facilities, transfer stations, or mixed waste processing facilities, unless there is a commingled processing operation as part of these facilities. In those cases, this standard covers only the part of the facility, which performs the process
21、ing of commingled materials. This standard was developed and revised by ANSI Accredited Standards Committee Z245 Subcommittee 4 on Facility Safety. Representatives from the following organizations also participated in the preparation of the standard and assisted the committee: The Waste Equipment Te
22、chnology Association (WASTEC) (formerly the Waste Equipment Manufacturers Institute and the Institute of Waste Equipment Distributors) Processing Equipment Project Working Group, representatives of independent manufacturers, end-users, consultants, and equipment distributors.
