The test apparatus shall provide means for obtaining test data as specified in Section 9. 8.4.3 Bolt pressure Test Fixture See ASTM F476, paragraph 6.5. 10 8.4.4 Mounting Locks The test equipment shall permit installation of the complete lockset with trim in accordance with the manufacturers
3、 template and instruction sheets regularly furnished. The lock front- to-strike spacing shall be 1/8 in. (3.2 mm) 1/64 in. (.4mm) at centerline of bolt for all tests. For operational tests the test door shall be in the closed and latched position. 8.4.5 Thumb Piece Force Gauge A scissors type gauge
4、used to determine the force applied to a thumb piece. See figure 5. 9. OPERATIONAL TESTS Three locks shall be tested for each test in Sections 9.8 through 9.12 and failure of one in any category shall constitute failure of the complete test. 9.1 Dead Bolt Torque 9.1.1 Torque to Retract Dead Bolt or
5、Torque to Retract Dead Bolt and Latch Bolt by Turn A torque meter shall be applied to the turn and slowly rotated until the bolt or bolts clear the strike without contact. The maximum measured torque to retract the bolts shall not exceed the maximum specified: 9.1.1.1 Requirements Maximum All Grades
6、: 9 lbf-in. (1 Nm) 9.1.2 Torque to Retract Dead Bolt or Torque to Retract Dead Bolt and Latch Bolt by Key A torque meter shall be applied to the key and slowly rotated until the bolt or bolts clear the strike without contact. The maximum measured torque to retract the bolts shall not exceed the maxi
7、mum specified: 9.1.2.1 Requirements Maximum All Grades: 9 lbf-in. (1 Nm) 9.2 Force or Torque to Retract Latch Bolt or Latch Bolt and Dead Bolt 9.2.1 Knob or Lever A torque meter shall be applied to the outside lever or knob to slowly rotate lever in a downward direction or rotate knob in a clockwise
8、 direction until the latch bolt clears the strike. When the knob is unidirectional, test only in the direction of operation. The maximum measured torque to retract the latch bolt shall not exceed the maximum specified: 9.2.1.1 Requirements Maximum Knobs - All Grades: 9 lbf-in. (1Nm), Levers - All Gr
9、ades: 28 lbf-in. (3.1 Nm) 9.2.1.2 Repeat 9.2.1 to the outside knob in a counterclockwise direction retracting the latch bolt. 9.2.1.2.1 Requirements Maximum All Grades: 9 lbf-in. (1 Nm) 9.2.1.3 Repeat 9.2.1 to the inside lever or knob retracting dead bolt or latch bolt or both. 9.2.1.3.1 Requirement
10、s Maximum Knobs - All Grades: 14 lbf-in. (1.6 Nm), Levers - All Grades: 28 lbf-in. (3.1 Nm) 9.2.1.4 Repeat 9.2.1 to the inside knob in a counterclockwise direction retracting dead bolt or latch bolt or both. 9.2.1.4.1 Requirements. Maximum All Grades: 14 lbf-in. (1.6 Nm) 9.2.2 Entry Handleset Thumb
11、Piece Apply a load at a point 1/4 in (6.4 mm)1/32 in. (.8mm) from the end of the thumb piece until the latch bolt clears the strike. Center punch the thumb piece to receive a pointed rod connected to a load gauge (see figure 5). The maximum load to retract the latch bolt shall not exceed the value s
12、pecified: 9.2.2.1 Requirements Maximum All Grades: 9 lbf (40N) 11 9.2.3 Paddle A force meter shall be applied to the outside paddle in the direction of the opening swing of the door 1 in. (25.4mm)1/32 in. (.8mm) from the free end of the paddle on the centerline retracting the dead bolt or latch bolt
13、 or both. 9.2.3.1 Requirements Maximum All Grades: 40 lbf (180N) 9.2.3.2 Repeat 9.2.3 to the inside paddle in the direction of the opening swing of the door 1 in. (25.4mm) from the free end of the paddle retracting the dead bolt or latch bolt or both. 9.2.3.2.1 Requirements Maximum All Grades: 40 lb
14、f (180N) 9.3 Force to Latch Door A force meter shall be applied perpendicular to the face of the door to a point 1 in. (25.4 mm)1/16 in. (1.6mm) from the lock edge of the door and on the center line of the latch bolt when the door is open just within 1/4 in. (6.4 mm) of the latch bolt contacting the
15、 lip of the strike. Close the door slowly by pushing the force meter against the door until the latch bolt fully enters the strike opening. The maximum measured force to fully latch the door shall not exceed the value specified: 9.3.1 Requirements Maximum All Grades: 4.5 lbf (20 N) 9.4 Torque to Ret
16、ract Latch Bolt by Key 9.4.1 A torque meter shall be applied to the key and slowly rotated until the latch bolt clears the strike. The maximum measured torque to retract the latch bolt shall not exceed the maximum specified in 9.4.3. 9.4.2 Repeat 9.4.1 in the opposite direction (when the lock constr
17、uction permits operation in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions). 9.4.3 Requirements Maximum All Grades: 9 lbf-in. (1 Nm) 9.5 Minimum Projection of Latch Bolt when Depressed to Dead Latched Position Depress the auxiliary dead latch and then depress the latch bolt to the deadlocked positio
18、n. Measure the projection of the depressed latch bolt from the centerline of the lock front to the end of the latch bolt. The measured projection shall not be less than the minimum specified: 9.5.1 Requirements Minimum Grade 1: 9/16 in. (14.3 mm), Grade 2 and 3: 3/8 in. (9.5 mm) 9.6 Minimum Projecti
19、on of Auxiliary Dead Latch to Deadlock Latch Bolt Depress the auxiliary dead latch slowly and test the latch bolt for the start of the deadlocking action. Measure the projection of the depressed auxiliary dead latch from the centerline of the lock front to the end of auxiliary dead latch at the poin
20、t of the first effective deadlocking. The measured projection shall not be less than the minimum specified: 9.6.1 Requirements Minimum Grade 1: 3/8 in. (9.5 mm), Grade 2 and 3: 5/16 in. (7.9 mm) 9.7 Warped Door Test Apply a force or torque meter to the turn, key*, thumb piece lever, knob or paddle a
21、nd slowly rotate or push down until the dead bolt or latch bolt or both dead bolt and latch bolt clear the strike while a 50 lbf (220 N) is applied perpendicular to the door at a point 1 in. (25.4 mm)1/16 in. (1.6mm) from the lock edge of the door and on the center line of the latch bolt. The 50 lbf
22、 (220 N) shall load the latch bolt against the strike in the direction of opening the door and shall be sustained throughout the test. Breakage or other failure constitutes failure of the test. The maximum measured torque to retract the dead bolt or dead bolt and latch bolt to clear the strike witho
23、ut contact shall not exceed the value specified. *Does not apply to functions where the lever, knob, or paddle, after it is unlocked by key, can be operated to retract the latch bolt. 12 -,-,- 9.7.1 Turn or Key A torque meter shall be applied to the inside and outside turn or key.
