11、rd This Part of this British Standard was originally prepared at the request of the British Paper Box Federation supported by the Ministry of Health and the National Pharmaceutical Union. It was first published in 1950 and revised in 1965 and 1969. In this revision, only two types of paperboard cont
12、ainer are specified, a carton and two designs of wallet. Types A, B, D and F, which were included in the 1969 edition, have all been omitted because the use of paperboard containers for holding loose tablets, bulk powders or creams, ointments and pastes is not now approved. The two designs of wallet
13、 provide for the holding of a sheet of strip- or blister-packed products, either by securing the sheet to the wallet or loose within the folded sides of the wallet. Certification. Six
17、sizes of carton are specified and four sizes of each design of wallet. One wallet design (WS) provides for the securing of a sheet of strip- or blister-packed products to the wallet, and the other (WNS) holds the sheet loose within the folded sides of the wallet. The containers are intended for stri
18、p- and blister-pack presentations which hold tablets, capsules, lozenges and suppositories. 2 Reference The title of the publication referred to in this standard is given on the inside back cover. 3 Construction 3.1 Cartons. Cartons shall be of the reverse tuck-flap design shown in Figure 1 and are
19、intended for dispensing more than one sheet of a strip- or blister-packed product. The cartons shall have a thumb cut at one end. The design of the tuck flaps and the side flaps at both ends shall be such that the carton can be closed without it or the flaps being distorted. The glue flap shall be a
20、n extension of the back panel. The bottom flap shall incorporate locking slots. Cartons shall be made from coated white lined folding boxboard (duplex) not less than 450 4m thick. When tested in accordance with the requirements of BS 3748, the geometric mean stiffness shall be not less than 300 mN.
21、The dimensions of the six sizes of cartons shall be as shown in Figure 1. 3.2 Wallets. Wallets shall be of the designs shown in Figure 2 and Figure 3. Design WS (Figure 2) shall be for the securing of a single sheet of a strip- or blister-packed product, either by stapling or other appropriate metho
22、ds at the time of dispensing. Design WNS (Figure 3) shall be for the insertion of a single sheet of a strip- or blister-packed product loose within the folded sides of the wallet at the time of dispensing. Wallets shall be made from coated white lined folding boxboard (duplex) not less than 350 4m t
23、hick. When tested in accordance with the requirements of BS 3748, the geometric mean stiffness1) shall be not less than 150 mN. The dimensions of the four sizes of each of the two designs of wallet shall be as shown in Figure 2 and Figure 3. 1) Geometric mean stiffness is calculated as where Sx and
