9、de appropriate methods for determination of vacuum salt for food use as specified in BS 998:1990. The methods for determination were previously published as appendices to BS 998:1969. A list of the Parts of BS 7319 is given in Part 1. This Part of BS 7319 is identical with ISO 2479:1972 “Sodium chlo
10、ride for industrial use Determination of matter insoluble in water or in acid and preparation of principal solutions for other determinations” published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It supersedes Appendix G of BS 998:1969, which is withdrawn. Additional information Re
11、agents. With reference to clause 4 and 9.2, the reagents used should be of recognized analytical grade; water complying with grade 3 of BS 3978 is suitable. Apparatus. With reference to 5.1, filter of grade designation P 10 or P 16 complying with BS 1752 is suitable. Units relating to concentration.
12、 The units used in this standard are based on normality (N). The corresponding values, expressed as amounts of substance concentrations, are as follows. Sampling. With reference to clause 6 and 9.4, the method referred to has now been published as ISO 8213:1986 “Chemical products for industrial use
13、Sampling techniques Solid chemical products in the form of particles varying from powders to coarse lumps”. It is recommended that test samples should be taken in accordance with BS 5309-4, which is the basis for the ISO publication. Calculation of result on a moisture free basis. The matter insolub
14、le in water content, expressed in milligrams per kilogram on a moisture free basis, is calculated by multiplying the result obtained in accordance with 8.1 by where H is the moisture content in % (m/m) determined in accordance with BS 7319-2. A British Standard does not purport to include all the ne
15、cessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. 18、odium chloride for industrial use. It also describes the preparation of principal solutions for other determinations. NOTESodium chloride for industrial use may contain components that are only very slightly soluble or dissolve very slowly in water. Insoluble substances in sodium chloride for indust
19、rial use shall therefore be defined by the conditions of determination described in this International Standard. These conditions reproduce those normally used during the handling of salt for industrial use. The object is not to dissolve all the impurities but only those of interest to users. 2 Fiel
20、d of application 2.1 General case The method is applicable to the analysis of sodium chloride for industrial use, carried out in aqueous solution. 2.2 Special case Determination of insoluble matter in an acid medium. NOTEWhatever the conditions adopted, all related determinations shall be carried ou
21、t in the same medium, except the determination of chlorides which shall always be carried out in an aqueous solution. 3 Principle Solution of a test portion in water. Filtration, drying and weighing of the insoluble residue. Dilution of the filtrate to form the principal solution (solution A) for ca
22、rrying out other determinations. 4 Reagent Distilled water, or water of equivalent purity, shall be used in the test. 4.1 Silver nitrate, 5 g/l nitric solution. Dissolve 0,5 g of silver nitrate in a little water, add 10 ml of nitric acid solution 1,40 g/ml approximately, and dilute to 100 ml. 5 Appa
23、ratus Ordinary laboratory apparatus and 5.1 Filter crucible or funnel, glass or porcelain, approximately 30 mm diameter and of a porosity grade P 10 or P 16 (pore size index 416 m). 5.2 Electric oven, ventilated by convection and capable of being controlled at 110 2 C. 5.3 Desiccator, containing sil
24、ica gel, phosphorus pentoxide or a molecular sieve. 6 Sampling and samples For methods of sampling and the number of samples to be taken for a given quantity of product, the procedure described in ISO. . .1) shall be followed. 7 Procedure 7.1 Test portion Weigh, to the nearest 0,01 g, approximately
