9、 of the Textiles and Clothing Standards Policy Committee and specifies processing requirements for a cabinet towel to be considered as being hygienically clean. BS 7311 is published in two Parts as follows: Part 1: Specification; Part 2: Specification for processing. In this Part of BS 7311 requirem
10、ents are specified for the processing of cabinet towels. During the preparation of this Part of BS 7311 special attention was given to the achievement of hygienic cleanliness, which has been satisfactorily represented by the absence of certain specific indicator organisms, viz. Enterococcus faecium
11、ATCC 19434 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, following processing in accordance with the conditions specified in this Part of BS 7113. The Department of Health Circular HC(87)30 1 describes the processing conditions required to achieve thermal disinfection of laundry work. These processing condi
12、tions were arrived at after a programme of technical work carried out by the public health laboratories. It was decided to approach the situation with cabinet towels in a similar manner. A programme of work based on the following three elements was carried out: a) recovery of a selection of viable o
13、rganisms after treatment to identify processing conditions for hygienic cleanliness; b) validation of a test method for the recovery of viable organisms from cabinet towels; c) recovery, using the validated test method, of known, heat-resistant, viable organisms from cabinet towels processed in laun
14、dries using the conditions identified in item a). A technical report describing the work carried out and conclusions drawn concerning the required processing conditions to achieve hygienic cleanliness has been prepared 2. The care and transportation of cabinet towels after processing are important.
15、In this respect due regard should be given to the recommendations given in Annex A together with advice which should be made available to the user on his/her premises. Assessed capability. Users of this British Standard are advised to consider the desirability of quality system assessment and regist
16、ration against the appropriate Part of BS 5750 by a third party certification body. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract.
