BS 2541:1960, which covered activated aluminium for use as a desiccant, was withdrawn in 1993. The methods of test giv
7、en in the 1960 edition were replaced with parts of BS 3482, for use in association with BS 2540, Specification for granular desiccant silica gel, BS 3532, Specification for granular desiccant silica gel impregnated with cobalt chloride and BS 7554, Specification for beaded silica gel. It was expecte
8、d that the specification for beaded desiccant activated alumina was no longer required, but it has become necessary to prepare a new standard to reflect current industrial needs. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are
9、 responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations. 17、 Methods of test for desiccants Part 11: Determination of friability and dust. 3 Sampling Test samples shall be prepared in accordance with BS 3482-1. For preparation of the dried sample, 75 g of the laboratory sample shall be dried for 4 h in an oven controlled at (2002.5) 8C. NOTEBeaded desiccant
18、activated alumina is highly hygroscopic and should be exposed to the atmosphere for the minimum possible period of time during sampling. 4 Moisture content When determined in accordance with BS 3482-2, the moisture content of the test portion dried at (2002.5) 8C for 4 h shall not exceed the value g
19、iven in Table 1. 5 pH When determined in accordance with BS 3482-3, the pH value shall not be lower than the minimum value and not higher than the maximum value given in Table 1. 6 Water soluble chlorides When determined in accordance with BS 3482-4, the content of water soluble chlorides, expressed
20、 as sodium chloride, shall not exceed the value given in Table 1. 7 Water soluble sulfates When determined in accordance with BS 3482-5, the content of water soluble sulfates, expressed as sodium sulphate, shall not exceed the value given in Table 1. 8 Adsorptive capacity When determined in accordan
21、ce with method A of BS 3482-6 at 25 8C, but at 60 % r.h., the adsorptive capacity of the material dried at (2002.5) 8C for 4 h shall not be less than the value given in Table 1. 9 Particle size When determined in accordance with BS 3482-7, the particle size range shall be as given in Table 1. 10 Amm
22、onia and ammonium compounds When determined in accordance with method A of BS 3482-8, the content of ammonia and ammonium compounds in the material shall not exceed the value given in Table 1. 11 Friability and dust When determined in accordance with BS 3482-11 the level of friability and dust shall
23、 not exceed the value given in Table 1. 12 Packaging The material shall be supplied in resealable, sound, clean and dry containers, except for bulk desiccant which may also be supplied in water vapour proof plastic sacks. 13 Marking Containers and packaging shall be marked at least with the followin
