It is essential that hydrogen peroxide be handled and stored so as to avoid the risk of violent decomposition or explosion. In particular, only clean equipment compatible with the product should be used (e.g. g
8、lass or unplasticized polyvinyl chloride) and containers should be vented to prevent build-up of pressure. Contact with combustible substances should be avoided. It is essential that personnel handling hydrogen peroxide be familiar with the detailed advice contained in the suppliers material safety

12、 10-19991 1 Scope This Part of BS 7546 describes a method for the determination of the gasometric stability at 100 C of hydrogen peroxide solutions for industrial use of concentrations in the range of 27 % (m/m) to 70 % (m/m). NOTEThe title of the publication referred to in this standard is given on
13、 the inside back cover. 2 Principle A measured volume of the test sample is heated at 100 C and the volume of oxygen evolved in a prescribed time is measured. 3 Reagents 3.1 General. Use water complying with grade 3 of BS 3978. 3.2 Detergent, 5 % (m/m) solution, phosphate-free, biodegradeable. 4 App
14、aratus 4.1 General. Use apparatus reserved solely for this determination. Use glassware made only from borosilicate glass. Prior to first use, or after unexpected results, condition the items described in 4.4, 4.5, 4.8 and 4.10 by treating them for 30 min with the detergent solution (3.2) at 100 C.
15、When not in use, keep items 4.4 and 4.10, filled with the detergent solution (3.2), introduced at a temperature of 90 C to 100 C and allowed to cool, and store in a dust-free atmosphere until required. If any of the items described in 4.4, 4.5, 4.8 and 4.10 show repeated abnormal experimental behavi

It is essential that hydrogen peroxide in the reaction tubes is not allowed to evaporate to dryness
19、or to decompose completely. 5.1 Assembly of apparatus Assemble the apparatus as shown in Figure 1. 5.2 Test sample Rinse the clean beaker (4.10) with a small volume of the test sample. Transfer about 125 ml of the test sample to the beaker. 5.3 Conditioning the reaction tubes Empty the detergent sol

Refill each tube to within 25 mm of the top with the detergent solution (3.2) and place in the steam bath (4.3), with the condenser (4.5) disconnected. Place each condenser in such a way that its lower end is free
