The test apparatus is intended to simulate the conditions under which the material or device has to function when fitted to a vehicle with respect to the volume and velocity of water generated by the tyre cont
、act patch. A.2 Apparatus A.2.1 Test apparatus, as shown in Figure 1. A.3 Procedure A.3.1 Attach either a sample 500mm wide 750 mm long of the suppression material or the device to the vertical frame of the test apparatus, ensuring that it stands as far back as possible within the collection tray and
、 any clamping devices do not affect the flow of water from the jets either before or after impact. NOTEIf the size of a device is less than 500mm 750 mm a sample may be fabricated to the required size. A.3.2 Set the flow rate of water to deliver 0.675 0.01 L/s and spray at least 90 L on the test sam
、ple from a distance of 500 2 mm (see Figure 1). A.3.3 Allow the water to drain from the test sample into the collection tray and calculate the quantity collected as a percentage of the quantity sprayed. A.3.4 Carry out the test five times and calculate the average percentage of the water collected.
、A.4 Results A.4.1 If the highest and lowest collection percentages vary by more than 5 % from the calculated average value, the test shall be considered invalid and shall be repeated. A.4.2 Where the vertical alignment of the material or device influences the result obtained, repeat the procedures i
、n A.3.1 to A.3.4 in those positions giving the highest and lowest percentage collection, and apply the requirements of A.4.1 to each of the individual results. The mean of the individual results shall then be taken to give the percentage collection of the material or device. Appendix B Test for clos
