5、:1998. It supersedes BS 7646:1993 which is withdrawn. The UK participation in its preparation was entrusted to Technical Committee CW/51, Self service trolleys, which has the responsibility to: aid enquirers to understand the text; present to the responsible European committee any enquiries on the i
6、nterpretation, or proposals for change, and keep the UK interests informed; monitor related international and European developments and promulgate them in the UK. A list of organizations represented on this committee can be obtained on request to its secretary. By custom and practice, an 18 kg load
7、limit for the child carrying facility of a basket trolley, rather than the 15 kg specified in this standard, has been adopted in the UK. In the case where a customer wishes to specify this higher limit, increasing the tilt angle given in 5.4 to 128 will give an equivalent safety level for an 18 kg c
8、hild. Subclause 4.1.1. of this standard requires that trolleys with a child carrying facility shall not contain any part that may pinch, cut or injure the child. Tests have shown that gaps within the ranges 5 mm to 12 mm and 25 mm to 45 mm can cause injury through entrapment of fingers or limbs resp

29、 specifies requirements for the construction, performance, testing and safety specifications for general purpose self service basket trolleys, fitted or not fitted with a child carrying facility, for use by customers of self service stores to carry goods. This European Standard applies to manually d
30、riven trolleys that are not intended for use on passenger conveyors. The technical characteristics of accessories (see 3.8) are not covered by this European Standard. 2 Normative references This European Standard incorporates by dated or undated reference, provisions from other publications. 33、the purposes of this European Standard, the following definitions apply. 3.1 type A trolley trolley consisting of a basket to carry goods, a base equipped with castors, and a handle (see Figure 1) NOTEType A trolleys do not have a child carrying facility. 39、et nominal load load in kilograms numerically equal to the calculated basket volume (3.10) NOTEThis is based on an assumed average load density in practice of 1 kg/dm3. 4 Requirements 4.1 General 4.1.1 Safety Trolleys shall not contain any exposed or accessible edges, points or burrs, sharp enough t
40、o inflict a wound or abrasion. Trolleys with a child carrying facility shall not contain any part that may pinch, cut or injure the child. When accessories are mounted on the trolley, the trolley and accessories assembly shall conform to this European Standard. Any part of the trolley that is essent
41、ial for its safe operation shall not be broken or lose its functionality when a force of 90 N is applied in any direction to that part. The child carrying facility shall be inside the basket. 4.1.2 Protection of persons against impact The front of the base of the trolley shall have a radius of at le
42、ast 5 mm (see 5.9) to minimize risk of injury to users or other persons near the trolley in normal use. The trolley shall contain no prominent parts that may cause injury to persons in normal use. 4.1.3 Materials of manufacture and coatings The materials of manufacture and coatings of the basket and
43、 child carrying facility shall be easy to clean and shall not affect the hygiene requirements of food in the basket. 4.2 Construction 4.2.1 Geometrical limits of the trolley 4.2.1.1 Maximum trolley width The trolley width shall not exceed 650 mm, including accessories, with the wheels aligned in the
44、 direction of motion. 4.2.1.2 Handle height The grip area shall be located at a height of between 850 mm and 1150 mm from the floor (see Figure 4). 4.2.1.3 Base The free space between the lowest point of the base and the floor shall be not less than 100 mm. 4.2.1.4 Leg room No fixed or mobile part o
45、f the trolley shall be placed, under the handle, in the space defined by the following limits (see Figure 4): between the rear wheels; the floor; the vertical plane beneath the handle; a plane inclined at minimum 58 into the trolley, tangent to the handle; below a horizontal plane 600 mm above the f
46、loor. The diamet
47、er of the wheels shall be not less than 75 mm. The wheels shall be equipped with threadguards or other similar devices. Each castor shall have the same load capacity. The load capacity shall be at least 25 % of the total maximum load (weight of trolley plus trolley load). 4.3 Base strength Under a s
48、eparation force of 500 N, the following dimensions (see Figure 5) shall not change by more than 5 mm (see 5.6): track dimension D1, measured at the front wheel attachment location; track dimension D2, measured at the rear wheel attachment location; wheel base dimension D3, measured between the front
49、 wheel and the rear wheel attachment points. There shall be no maximum size restriction on basket volume provided the trolley conforms to clause 5. 4.5 Basket strength Under the shock effect of a 10 kg mass fallin
