Additional information The United Kingdom voted against the acceptance of this European Sta

The principal UK objections were as follows: a) There is no reference in the EN foreword to CR 12952-17, Water-tube boilers and auxiliary installations Part 17: Guidelines for the involvement of an inspection body independent of the manufacturer. It was intended that
、Annex A of this part of EN 12952 be transferred to Part 17 otherwise Part 1 would be rejected by the European Commission and would not be harmonized and published in the Official Journal of the European Communities. b) CEN/TC 269 passed a resolution that Parts 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 be published as a p
、ackage necessary for the design, construction and safety of water-tube boilers but no mention of this is given in the EN foreword. c) CEN/TC 269 agreed to remove reference to coil boilers from EN 12953 and include them in 1.1 of the scope of this standard but no reference has been made to coil boile
、rs. d) 1.2 of the scope is entitled “Boiler assembly” however it also includes other plant and auxiliary installations. e) 1.3 of the scope lists items that are not covered by any of the parts of EN 12952 but there is no mention of this in the subclause. f) The term “chemical recovery boilers (black
、 liquor boilers)” is referred to in several parts of EN 12952. It would have been preferable to include the definition of the term in this general Part 1, however it is only defined in EN 12952-5:2001, E.2. It is defined as a pulping chemical recovery process unit where the organic materials are bur

、1.1 General This European Standard applies to water-tube boilers with volumes in excess of 2 litres for the generation of steam and/or hot water at an allowable pressure greater than 0,5 bar and with a temperature in excess of 110 C as well as auxiliary installations (other plant equipment). The pur
、pose of this European Standard is to ensure that the hazards associated with the operation of water-tube boilers are reduced to a minimum and that adequate protection is provided to contain the hazards that still prevail when the water-tube boiler is put into service. This protection will be achieve
、d by the proper application of the design, manufacturing, testing and inspection methods and techniques incorporated in the various parts of this European Standard. Where appropriate, adequate warning of residual hazards and the potential for misuse are given in the training and operating instructio
、ns and local to the equipment concerned (see prEN 12952-8, prEN 12952-9 and prEN 12952-16). 1.2 Boiler assembly For the purpose of this standard, the boiler assembly includes: a)the water-tube boiler including all the pressure parts from the feedwater inlet (including the inlet valve) up to and incl
