F
21、or this a comprehensive knowledge of liquids for plant protection or fertilization, including the limitations of their use, and suitable crop protection equipment is necessary. The aim of this standard is to specify minimum requirements for crop protection equipment, with particular emphasis on mini
22、mizing environmental damage. This standard focuses on achieving : ? even distribution and good deposition of liquid on the target; ? avoidance of unintentional spreading of crop protection products into the surrounding environment ; ? improvements in the handling of crop protection equipment. 1 Scop
23、e This standard is applicable to mounted, trailed and self-propelled sprayers used in agriculture and horticulture. It specifies requirements and their verification for the design and performance of sprayers with regard to minimizing the potential risk of environmental contamination. In addition, it
24、 specifies the requirements for identification of the sprayer and the minimum content of the instruction handbook. NOTEConformity with EN 12761 can only be stated when the sprayer meets the requirements of EN 12761-1:2001 and one of the following specific Parts Specific requirements for field crop s
25、prayers are included in EN 12761-2:2001 and for air-assisted sprayers for bush and tree crops in EN 12761-3:2001. This standard does not cover safety aspects which are dealt with in EN 907. 2 Normative references This European Standard incorporates, by dated or undated reference, provisions from oth

29、id for plant protection and fertilization 3.2 field crop sprayer implement which distributes liquid by means of a horizontally positioned boom, located above the crop. It includes equipment for distributing liquid with air assistance, pneumatic boom, etc. 3.3 air-assisted sprayer implement, without
30、a horizontal boom, which distributes liquid by air assistance and which is primarily used for perennial crops such as orchards, vineyards and hops 3.4 band sprayer implement or attachment to sprayers which applies liquids in bands or rows for plant protection or fertilization of field crops 3.5 clea
31、ning device for crop protection product cans device for the cleaning of the inside of empty crop protection product cans. The device may be an integral part of the sprayer or an independent installation (e.g stationary equipment) 3.6 cans for crop protection products collective name for crop protect
32、ion product packaging, for example cans, bottles, bags, sacks, boxes 4 Guidelines 4.1 General Sprayers and their components shall be reliable and so designed that they can be used properly in accordance with their intended use, without harming the environment unnecessarily. They shall be designed so
33、 that they can be safely operated, supervised and switched off immediately from the operators position. Easy and safe filling and emptying shall be possible. This includes that filling levels and limits shall be determined easily and that there shall be sufficient difference between nominal and tota
34、l volume. Unintentional dispersal of liquid shall be avoided. 4.2 Adjustment of the volume application rate The adjustment of the volume application rate shall be easy, accurate and repeatable. Adjusting and controlling the intended rate require : a) means of calibration of the equipment; b) means o

36、me application rate. 4.3 Distribution and deposition Sprayers shall be designed so that an even distribution and an adequate deposition can be achieved. This is characterized e. g. by: a) evenness in distribution along the boom in the case of field crop sprayers; b) evenness in distribution in the d
37、riving direction; c) evenness of mixing of the mixture; d) adequate quantity and distribution of the spray mixture on the target area; e) minimising losses to non target areas. 4.4 Cleaning and service Easy, safe and complete emptying and cleaning of the sprayer as well as changing worn parts shall
38、be possible. For checking the sprayer it shall be possible to connect measuring instruments. 5 Marking 5.1 General In addition to the marking required in 5.2 of EN 907:1997, the following items shall be marked. This marking shall be explained in the instruction handbook. 5.2 Nozzles Nozzles shall be
39、 marked in such a way that they can be identified directly or from information given in the instruction handbook. At least type and size shall be indicated. 5.3 Filters Filters shall be marked with the manufacturers name or sign and the mesh size. 6 Instruction handbook The manufacturer/supplier of
40、the sprayer shall supply an instruction handbook with the sprayer. In addition to the instructions and information required by 5.1 of EN 907:1997, the instruction handbook shall emphasize the following points : a) additional equipment or attachments for the sprayer according to the intended use ; b)
41、 filling and precautions to be taken to avoid contamination of the environment ; c) conditions of use (for example maximum driving speed) and the corresponding adjustment of the sprayer ; d) avoiding drift taking into account different parameters such as nozzles, pressure, boom height, wind speed, d
