It supersedes clause 4 of BS 40
9、71:1966 which is deleted by amendment, and DD 74:1981 which is withdrawn. EN 204 was produced as a result of international discussions in which the United Kingdom took an active part. EN 204:1991 has been approved by CEN Member Bodies under the weighted voting procedures introduced in 1988 to coinci
10、de with the introduction of “New Approach” Directives from the Commission of the European Community. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. 22、greater legal security in any future product liability system with regard to properties guaranteed by the adhesive manufacturer. This standard defines durability classes according to the strength of the adhesive. For special applications, further tests which do not fall within the scope of this Stan
23、dard may be applicable. The adhesives described in this standard are suitable for instance for the bonding of furniture and interior structures, panelling, doors, windows, stairs etc. of which one part at least is made of wood or derived timber products. 1 Scope This European Standard classifies non
24、-structural adhesives for joining wood and derived timber products in durability classes. The classification is determined by measurement of wet and dry strength of test pieces in either of the two standard atmospheres: (23 2) C and (50 5) % relative humidity or (20 2) C and (65 5) % relative humidi
25、ty NOTEThere are specific standards for the bonding of wooden structural members, the manufacture of plywood, particle boards, fibreboards and also for the veneering of surfaces. 2 Normative references This European Standard incorporates by dated or undated reference, provisions from other publicati
26、ons. These normative references are cited at the appropriate places in the text and the publications are listed hereafter. For dated references, subsequent amendments to or revisions of any of these publications apply to this European Standard, only when incorporated in it by amendment or revision.

EN 205, Test methods for wood adhesives for non-structural applications; Determination of tensile shear strength of lap joints. 3 Classification, definition The bonds shall comply with the specification for the respect
28、ive durability class given in Table 1. 4 Adhesive strength requirements and testing In order to classify an adhesive in one of the durability classes according to Table 1, all minimum values of adhesive strength indicated in Table 2 shall be attained as mean values after the prescribed conditioning
29、sequence. EN 205 and the following requirements are applicable to the testing of the adhesive: thin adhesive bond lines shall be used 20 test pieces shall be tested for each conditioning sequence (see Table 2 for serial number) the individual values and the mean value shall be recorded. The values given in Table 2 are comp
35、arative values and shall not be used as a basis for calculation (e.g. of design data). They are not comparable with values obtained using test pieces of other dimensions.
