19、allpaper Manufacturers Association (IGI), CEN/TC 99 was established in 1980 to develop standards for wallcoverings in roll form. The IGI submitted first draft proposals for a vocabulary, and for specifications for wallcoverings for subsequent decoration and for finished wallpapers, wall vinyls and p

During its first meeting in 1980, TC99 decided to undertake additional work concerning textile wallcoverings, for which a WG 1 was created, and heavy duty wallcoverings, for which a WG 2 was created. A first proposal for the specification for heavy duty products was forwarded

To ensure satisfactory performance, it is important that decorators follow the manufacturers recommended hanging instructions for each particular product. Various grades of colour fastness to light of
29、heavy duty wallcoverings are recognized and symbols to indicate these grades are given in this standard, as well as symbols to indicate washability, impact resistance, pattern matching, means of application and methods of subsequent removal from the support. This will facilitate the selection by the
30、 user of wallcoverings appropriate to his particular needs and guide the decorator. Related European Standards on the vocabulary and symbols used in the wallcovering industry, for finished wallpapers, wall vinyls and plastics wallcoverings, for wallcoverings for subsequent decoration and for textile

32、ching, methods of application and removal; specifies requirements for marking; gives the designation system; specifies the maximum permissible content of certain heavy metals, vinyl chloride monomer and formaldehyde. The marking requirements of this standard are primarily for information of the cons

This standard applies to heavy duty wallcoverings supplied in rolls for hanging on to walls and ceilings by means of an adhesive covering the whole of the interface between the wallcovering and the support and that are not intended to be deco

Excluded from this standard are rigid materials, materials not attached or not wholly attached by adhesive, wallcoverings for subsequent decoration, and non-decorative wallcoverings such as wall linings or those with special properties, e.g. thermal or acoustic insulation. 2 Ref
