9、I ii BSI 1997 BS EN 50144-2-11 : 1997 National foreword This British Standard has been prepared by subcommittee CPL/61/6 and is the English language version of EN 50144-2-11 : 1996 Safety of hand-held electric motor operated tools Part 2-11: Particular requirements for sabre saws and double blade re
10、ciprocating saws, published by the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC). It is to be read in conjunction with BS EN 50144-1 : 1996 General requirements which it supplements or modifies. The many references to Part 1 should be read as references to BS EN 50144-1 : 1996 wh
11、ich is the English language version of EN 50144-1 : 1995. The foreword of EN 50144-2-11 makes reference to the Date of withdrawal, dow, of the relevant national standard. In this case there is no conflicting British Standard. Reference is also made to the application of CENELEC Memorandum No 6 with
12、regard to certification. Attention is drawn to Note 7 to Memorandum No 6 which states: The use of the certificate or mark licence in the running production may not go on for more than 60 months after dow. This should allow necessary changes in the production line and to use up supplies. Within the e
13、stablished period after dow the certificates and mark licences will have to be reconsidered and cancelled or reissued. For tools intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, as in ships and vehicles, and in hazardous locations, for example, where explosions are liable to occur,
14、 requirements additional to those specified in the standard may be necessary. This standard calls for test procedures that may be injurious to safety or health if adequate precautions are not taken when conducting tests. Product certification. Attention is drawn to the fact that products conforming
15、to this British Standard may be approved by BSI Product Certification, and that such certification may be used for the purposes of participation in the CENELEC Certification Agreement. (Details of the BSI certification mark are given on the inside back cover.) Compliance with a British Standard does

24、 transportable electric motor operated tools. The text of the draft was submitted to the Unique Acceptance Procedure (UAP) in April 1994 and was approved by CENELEC as EN 50144-2-11 on 1995-03-06. The following dates were fixed: latest date by which the EN has to be implemented at national level by
25、publication of an identical national standard or by endorsement(dop) 1997-01-01 latest date by which the national standards conflicting with the EN have to be withdrawn(dow) 1997-06-01 As far as certification is concerned, CENELEC Memorandum 6 applies. This standard is divided into two parts Part 1:
26、 General Requirements, comprising clauses of a general character. Part 2: Particular Requirements, dealing with particular types of appliances. The clauses of these particular requirements supplement or modify the corresponding clauses in Part 1. Where the text of Part 2 indicates an addition to or
27、a replacement of the relevant requirement, test specification or explanation of Part 1, these changes are made to the relevant text of Part 1, which then becomes part of the standard. 32、ng saws intended to cut wood and similar materials. 2 Definitions This clause of Part 1 is applicable except as follows: 2.2 Replacement: 18 normal load For sabre saws and double blade reciprocating saws intended to cut wood, the load obtained when the saw is operated continuously the load being suc
33、h that the input, in watts, is equal to rated input. NOTE. The normal load is based on the rated voltage or on the upper limit of the rated voltage range. 3 General requirements This clause of Part 1 is applicable. 4 General conditions for the tests This clause of Part 1 is applicable except as foll
34、ows: 4.10 Addition: For tests carried out at normal load, the reciprocating mechanism may be replaced by a rotating gear, so that the saw can be loaded by means of a brake. 5 Rating This clause of Part 1 is applicable. 6 Classification This clause of Part 1 is applicable. 7 Marking This clause of Pa
35、rt 1 is applicable except as follows: 7.1 Addition: Sabre saws and double blade reciprocating saws intended to cut wood shall be marked with: maximum cutting length in millimetres; number of reciprocations per minute under no-load conditions. NOTE. The number of reciprocations under no-load conditio
36、ns determined after the saw has been running idle for 10 min at rated voltage or at the upper limit of the rated voltage range. 7.13 Addition: If the saw is fitted with a device which allows the connection of external dust collection equipment, in the instruction sheet instructions shall be given ho
37、w to connect such a device. 8 Protection against electric shock This clause of Part 1 is applicable. 9 Starting This clause of Part 1 is applicable. 10 Input and current This clause of Part 1 is applicable except as follows: 10.1 Modification: This test is not made. 10.2 Addition: The measurement is
