24、 normally worn by a hearing impaired person. The usual inputs to such an aid are acoustic through the microphone, or electro-magnetic through the induction pick-up coil. However there is a need, for example for educational purposes, for an electrical connection between the hearing aid and the electr
25、ical output of a signal source, such as a radio, record player, tape recorder, infra-red system, or external microphone. The required characteristics for such an input are given in this standard. 1 Scope and object This standard specifies the electrical, marking and safety characteristics of a circu
26、it for an external electrical input to a personal hearing aid in order to ensure compatibility with external electrical or electroacoustic signal sources. This standard does not cover the interconnection of the parts of a Cros (contralateral routing of signals) or Bi-Cros hearing aid, when designed
27、as a complete system. Throughout this standard all sound pressure levels (abbreviated SPL) are referred to 20 4Pa. 2 Reference In this standard, reference is made to the following IEC publications: Publication 65 (1976): Safety Requirements for Mains Operated Electronic and Related Apparatus for Hou

30、nput sensitivity (point S3 in Figure A1) is that voltage expressed in millivolts, which gives an output from the hearing aid equal to that generated by an input sound pressure level to the microphone of 70 dB at the same gain setting at a stated frequency of 1 600 Hz, or 2 500 Hz as appropriate. The
31、 input sensitivity shall be in the range 0.5 mV to 10 mV and the actual value shall be stated by the manufacturer. NOTEIn certain cases, differences in signal level between that required for correct working of the hearing aid and that given by external signal sources will require matching to take pl

In many cases, signal and impedance matching can be combined in the same interface. An example of a circuit arrangement for the va

The polarity shall be stated by the manufacturer of the hearing aid. 4 Mechanical characteristics of plug and socket for electrical input Not specified. 5 Marking of electrical input The input socket and the relevant position of the selector switch, if any
35、, shall be marked with the symbol E or(see IEC Publication 118-11). If relevant, the polarity of the input for d.c. voltage shall be marked. 6 Electrical safety 6.1 A hearing aid shall not be connected to mains operated equipment if the equipment does not meet the safety requirements laid down in IE
