8、 BS HC 106:1974 BSI 03-20001 1 Special foundry approval Manufacture of castings to this specification may be restricted to foundries specially approved in accordance with the requirements of BS HC 100, Section 1. 2 Inspection and testing procedure This British Standard shall be used in conjunction w
9、ith the relevant sections of the latest issue of BS HC 100, as follows: 3 Chemical composition The re-melting stock and the castings shall contain: 4 Condition Castings shall be supplied in the solution treated condition, unless otherwise agreed between the purchaser and the founder, in which case t
10、he condition required shall be stated on the drawing or order. 5 Heat treatment 5.1 General. The heat treatment shall be as given in 5.2 or 5.3. NOTEIf the procedure given in 5.2 is not acceptable to the purchaser and founder they may use the procedure given in 5.3. The procedure to be used should b
11、e stated on the drawing or order. 5.2 Heat treatment I 5.2.1 Solution treatment. Solution treatment shall consist of: a) heating uniformly at a temperature between 1 020 C and 1 180 C for not less than 1 h and cooling to a temperature not exceeding 25 C; b) holding at a temperature not exceeding 25
12、C for not less than 24 h before further treatment. 5.2.2 Precipitation treatment. Precipitation treatment shall consist of heating uniformly at a temperature between 450 C and 520 C for not more than 4 h and cooling in air. 5.2.3 Full heat treatment. Full heat treatment shall consist of solution tre
13、atment in accordance with 5.2.1, followed by precipitation treatment in accordance with 5.2.2. 5.2.4 Homogenization. Homogenization treatment shall consist of: a) heating uniformly at a temperature between 1 135 C and 1 165 C for not less than 90 min and cooling in air to a temperature not exceeding
14、 25 C; b) holding at a temperature not exceeding 25 C for not less than 24 h before further treatment.
