11、ope 1.1 This British Standard provides a general specification for a range of sizes of external wood doors and frames. 1.2 The doors are only intended for fitting in locations where compliance with the requirements of the 1966 Load Line Convention is not necessary. 2 Dimensions and size references 2
12、.1 The principal dimensions of the doors and frames shall be as given in Figure 1 and Figure 2. 2.2 The designating size of the door shall be denoted by the width of associated clear opening (see Figure 2) in millimetres. These size designations are 600, 700 and 800. 3 Materials 3.1 The door shall b
13、e constructed of first quality teakwood planks, free from deleterious defects such as wane, splits and checks. Other hardwoods may be used provided that they are at least as suitable in all respects for the intended duty and are equally acceptable to the purchaser. 3.2 The moisture content of the ti
14、mber during manufacture and when the joinery is delivered to the purchaser shall be not less than 12 % nor greater than 18 %. 3.3 The materials used for the manufacture of individual components of doors and frames shall be as given in Table 1. 4 Quality of manufacture The manufacturer shall ensure c
15、ompliance with the following requirements. 4.1 The door shall be of framed and boarded construction and made up from faced and dressed vertical planks of 50 mm nominal thickness, suitably jointed and bonded, the vertical boarding being clamped together by three steel tie bars galvanized in accordanc
16、e with the requirements of BS 729. The exposed holes for access to the tie bar nuts shall be sealed with hardwood plugs and faced flush. 4.2 The adhesive used in construction shall be of WPB type in accordance with the requirements of BS 1204. 4.3 After assembly, the door and frame surfaces shall be
17、 smooth and ready to receive any protective finish that may be prescribed. 5 Ancillary fittings 5.1 Each door shall be fitted with three 100 mm brass butt hinges conforming to the requirements of BS 1227, positioned as shown in Figure 1. 5.2 Each door shall be fitted with a suitable lock and latch a
