4、d under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure Method A - Thread Samples 1. Expose the sewing threads in a Fadeometer, using the following method: (a) Prepare a frame 70 x 120 mm with an opening 50 x 50 mm made d either 2 - 3 mm thick sheet polyethylene or fiberboard. (c) Mount the polyethylene or fiberboard frame in a suitable holder on the rotating rack of t
6、he Fadeometer in a vertical position. (d) Expose for the number of standard fading hours designated by the Engineering material specification and under the operating condition described in SAE J 1885. 2. Prior to performing the tensile tests (original and aged) ensure that the specimens have been co
7、nditioned at 23 +/- 2 O C and a relative humidity of 50 +/- 5 % for 24 h. 3. Determine the tensile strength of ten threads in the original condition and ten threads in the aged condition as described in ASTM D 204, at a constant speed of 300 mm/minute. 4. Compute the average tensile strength and cal
8、culate the percentage loss as follows: % loss in tensile strength = oriainal tensile - aaed tensile x 1 O0 original tensile Method B - Seat Belt Webbing 1. Expose the seat belt webbing in a Fadeometer, using the following method: (a) Measure and cut two samples 1 O00 mm in length from 3 seat belt as
9、semblies. (b) Take one specimen from each seat belt assembly and fold each end of the webbing sample so that a 300 mm strip is exposed in the center of the sample. (c) Clamp each of the folded ends of webbing to the revolving frame of the Fadeometer so that the webbing is in a vertical position, as
10、shown in Figure 1. 2. Expose for 200 standard fade h or as specified by the applicable Engineering Material Specification and under the operating conditions described in SAE J 1885. 3. Prior to performing the tensile tests (original and aged) ensure that the specimens have been conditioned at 23 +/-
11、 2 O C and a relative humidity of 50 +/- 5 % for 24 h. 4. Determine the tensile strength of the two samples in the original condition and the two samples in the aged condition as required by the applicable Engineering Material Specification. 5. Compute the average tensile strength and calculate the

Using the average tensile strength, calculate the percentage retained tensile strength as
