12、 No. 1036 formulated under the cognizance of Working Group P-5.1 on Connectors.) 1. SCOPE This standard applies to 3-contact mating and locking connectors for use in audio circuits. Essen- tially four types of connectors are covered: male and female portable connectors for use on cables, and male an
13、d female connectors for wall or panel mounting. 2. MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS A. B. C. Male and female connectors shall be made to assure interchangeability. The fit of a pair of connectors shall be such that mechanical rattle is minimized. Dimensions and dimensional limits shall be in accordance with
14、the two attached drawings. Each connector shall consist of 1. A cylindrical metallic shell having a. A flat area parallel to the axis of the cylinder to facilitate orientation. b. A lock-in key on the female connector and a mating lock-in keyway on the male connector. 2. An insert portion of insulat
15、ing material which is held stationary with respect to the shell and which carries the contacts. 3. Three contacts each provided with a solder pot which is readily accessible for making con- nections. The contacts shall be arranged so that the ground contact (marked G) engages before either of the tw
16、o other contacts. D. Each portable connector for use on a cable shall have 1. A circumferential friction grip surface on the metallic shell to assist in pulling mated con- nectors apart. 2. A cable clamp integral with the body of the connector, and a cable relief gland to avoid sharp bending of the
17、cable, which will accommodate cable ranging in diameter from 0.250” to 0.313”. 3. Facilities for disassembly for wiring purposes with a screwdiver of not more than 3/16“ blade width. 4. An insulating sleeve or insert which surrounds the soldered connections when the connector is assembled. Each conn
