、EIA-948: EXAMPLES TO PACK TRAYS FOR TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 Scope This document describes as examples the methods to pack trays, based on ANSVEIA-948, for transportation and storage. The standard ANSVEIA-948 was formulated to provide dimensions and tolerances necessary for tra
、ys to locate components in known positions for automated handling. Trays can also be used as shipment packages in the logistic chain. Overall tray dimensions are based on flat pallets of 1200x800 mm and 121 9x1 O 1 6 mrn for intercontinental materials handling according to ISO-6780:2003. The basic o
、bjective is not to state any standard ways, but just to demonstrate the possibilities, which the flexibility of the modularity enables. In other words, this document does not specify directly any box constructions, dimensions, materials or how trays should be packed, just how they can be packed. 1.2
、 Applicable Documents More information about packaging can be found for examples from following documents: IS0-6780:2003 “Flat pallets for intercontinental materials handling - Principal dimensions and tolerances EN 20780:1993 Packing. GENERAL The following things should be considered, when defining packaging method: Pallet load dimensions may not exceed the pallet dimensions. The use of packing materials should be minimized. Only recyclable
、materials should be used. Packages should be possible to reuse. All materials types should be clearly identified and easy to separate. 0 0 0 0 3. EXAMPLES 3.1 Trays in boxes The meaning of this document is not to define any box type to be used with trays, even if only one type of box exists in examp
、le pictures. This section tries to illustrate how boxes can be used for different tray sizes. There can be one specific box size per tray size, but also if one box size is chosen; it can be always used for smaller sizes. So for example, if some manufacturer is supplying materials in all 4 tray sizes
、, it can keep only A-tray box and 2 different divider types in storage. The manufacturer is able to supply all shipments by using A-tray box and combinations of dividers. 3.1 .I A-tray box -,-,- 3.1.2 B-tray 3.1.2.1 B-tray box 3.1.2.2 B-tray stack in A-tray box -,-,- 3.1.3 C-tray 3.1.3.1 C-tray box

It is possible also to use bigger container box, where the stacks are placed into. The modular tray sizes enable also that several different sizes of trays are

The security issues must be taken into account, when choosing outer packaging method. 3.2.1 .I A-tray -,-,- 11 (24) 3.2.1.4 D-tr

、 tray stack palletizing is very simple with pallet 1200x800 mm, where the tray stacks are placed symmetrically and for example number of A-trays is 4. The two needed dividers can be made standard for all tray sizes by making cross cuttings for smallest sizes, and then with bigger tray sizes, the one
