This spification covm the teqllimments of oils or other corrosion preventative compounds used to prevent the formation of corrosion products on
2、 bodies during special storage or production stoppage with unusual corrosive condi- tions (humidity, fumes, or extended time). These materials require no special clean off if used prior to tbe phosphate sys- tem 1.1 Since the condition of the metal surface is critical to the proper performance of th
3、e phosphate, the materials used under this specification must not adversely a&ct the formation of the proper phosphate coating. As a result, no silicone or lanolin compound of any kind is allowed as a component in the mate+ rial. In addition, these materials are considered part of the metal pls- pro
4、cess and shall be supplied by the phos- phate vendor in each plant. Any exapions to this rule must fmt be approved by the GM North American Operation (NAO) Paint Engineering Departmnt 1.2 Specified herein are the material requirements per the GM NAO Paint Engineering Depamnent. These specifications
5、an used to verify that the materials have been processed to produce a finished product of quality consistent with that proven in initial qualification testing. 1.3 RESTRICTED AND REPORTABLE CHEMICALS (GMlOOOM). BY 1997 START OF SALEABLE VEHICLES, ALL MA IEIUALS SUPFLIED TO THIS SPEClFICATION MUST CO
6、MPLY WITH THE REQ WREMENTSLISTEDIN GMlOOOM, “RESTRICTED AND REPORTABLE CHEMICALS.” 2 REFERENCED STANDARDS. GMlOOOM GM4389M ASTM D92 GM4386M GM4465P 3 REQUIREMENTS. 3.1 See the general phosphate specification (GM4386M) for additional requirements and requirement details not listed in this specificati
7、on. 3.2 All nxpkments for the rust preventative compound shall be tested for performana versus a currently approved phos- phate system without ntst preventative compound 3.3 RUST PREVENTI ON. GM CRS and EG test panels shallbecoatedwiththismaterial.Afterexposumtohumidity testing (GM4465P) for 48 h, t
8、he panels shall not exhibit any Corrosion or staining. 3.4 PANEL PREPARATION. See GM4386M. Must meet the requirements listed in GM4386M, 3.1 to 3.4.6 and 3.5.8. Perform these tests for all substrates listed in GM4386M, 3.4.1 (only CRS and EG needed for 35.8). The number of panels per test should be
9、the same as that listed in the required proce- dure or GM4386M. 3.5 FLASH POINT (ASTM D92). These materials must have a flash point no kss than 12o C. 3.6 VOLATlIE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS. Any qualified materid must have a VOC level no greater than .06 kg/L. 3.7 STABIIJIY Ma&al shall be unaffected by norm
10、al stor- age periods and notmal temperature variations. 3.8 FUNCI IONAL REQ UIREMENTS. The material must perform satisfactorily in the specifkd production application. Failure to do so shall constitute reason for rejection, regardless of compliance with the other requirements of this specification.
11、3.9 Quality Control Requimments. In addition to meeting all of the above detaikd mquirements, all subsequent lots of an approved compound will be required to meet the standards of composition established in the originally approved lot. Reference original i&ired spectra and gas cbromatograms. 4 SOURC
12、E SHIPMENT RESPONSIBILlTY. It will be the responsibii of the supplier to insure that the mated is not exposed to temperatures duting shipment which would cause the material to fail to meet any of the require- lllcnts of this specification. 5 INlllAL SOURCE APPROVAL No shipment shall be made by any s
13、upplier until representative initial production samples have been approved by engineering as meeting the requirements of this speeiflcation. 5.1 Completed copies of the Material Safety Data Sheet mating GM information requirements must be submitted with any new submissions or where a composition cha
14、nge has occurre& 6 INSPECllON AND REJECTION. All shipments of material or parts under conttact or purchase order manufac- tured to this specification shall be equivalent in every respect to the initial samples approved by engineering. Them shall be no changes in either fommlation or manufacturing pm
15、cesses permitted without prior notification and approval by cngineer- ing. Lack of notification by the supplier constitutes grounds for rejection of any shipment. Whik samples may be taken fiom incoming shipments and checked for conformana to this specification, the supplier shall accept the respons
16、ibility for incoming shipments nscting this specification without depen- dence upon purchaser s inspection. In addition the supplier shall be responsible for submitting a CERTIFICATE OF ANALYSIS with each batch of material arriving at a plant. Thisd ocumcnt shall be pupated and provide data in accor
