、Test Procedure Road GMW3043 Defogging System Performance Validation of Windshield, Side Windows and Backlight 1 Introduction Note: Nothing in this procedure supersedes applica- ble laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. Note: In the event of a conflict between the Englis
、h and the domestic language, the English language will take precedence. 1.1 Purpose. Validation of the performance capabil- ity of a defogging system for the windshield, side win- dows, and the performance of the electrically heated backlight. 1.2 Foreword. Not applicable. 1.3 Applicability. For all
、passenger vehicle de- froster systems and electrically heated backlights. 1.4 Definitions. Soak:Allow vehicle to cool down with hood open. Water Vapor Generation:With the hood closed, the vehicle passenger compartment shall be fogged up with water vapor using a vapor generator. The quantity of water
、vapor depends on the number of seats. Defogging:With the engine running, the output of the vapor generator shall be reduced according to the number of persons sitting in the passenger compart- ment; the defogging procedure shall be performed at a defined vehicle and wind speed. Breath Level:The brea
、th level for a particular row is the average of the temperatures recorded by the two outboard breath level temperature sensors of that row. The temperature sensor(s)foreach seat position shall be installed according to Appendix A. The vent nozzles shall be adjusted in such a way that the main air fl
、ow of each nozzle is directed straight backward to a line 200 mm below the position of the temperature sensors. Acceleration and Deceleration:Unless other- wise specified, the acceleration and deceleration rates should be within 8 and 10 km/h/s. 2 References Note: Only the latest approved standards

、oper- ator, one driver and at least one observer. 4 Procedure 4.1 Preparation. The vehicle shall be prepared for the climatic tunnel and shall be equipped with devices according to 3.2 and 4.3.3. 4.1.1 Cleaning of the Windows. The inner surfaces of the vehicle glass shall be completely degreased wit
、h methyl alcohol or an equivalent degreasing agent. After drying, an ammonia solution of (3.5) % shall be applied. The surface treated in this manner shall be allowed to dry and then wiped with a dry cotton cloth. 4.1.2 Settings. The vehicle ventilation system con- trols shall be set to Full Hot, OS

Unless side window defrosters are bleeds off the vent outlets, the vent outlets shall remain closed (if appli- cable). 4.2 Conditions. 4.2.1 Environmental Conditions. It shall be ensured that the entire vehicle is at a uniform temperature (vehicle mass, e.g. seat rail) of (20 1) C prior to start of test. The engine oil temperature shall be (20 1) C. Wind speed shall be
