This specification covers the requirements for materials which are designed to be applied to solder and silicon bronze joints aft
2、er the ELPO bake oven. This process helps fill in disk, file and score marks which contribute to poor quality and appearance. These materials must be sandable and compatible with BCKC paint systems WITH primer surfacer. If the paint system does not use primer surfacer, then 9984133 is the appropriat
3、e knife glaze to use. 1.1 Specified herein are the material requirements per the GM Car or Truck Group, Paint Engineering Activity. These specifications are used to veriry that the materials have been processed to a quality consistent with that proven in initial qualification testing. 2 REFERENCED S
4、TANDARDS. GM4465P 9984065 GM9071P 9984070 GM9505P ASTM D1186 9984133 ASTM D2247 3 REOUIREMENTS. Specific material requirements and appropriate test methods are listed under properties and in Appendix A. 3.1 Physical Requirements. 3.1.1 Appearance. The coating shall represent a smooth, uniform contin
5、uous surface that blends into noncoverage areas. The surface shall be free of sags, craters, blisters or any other defect detrimental to appearance or durability. 3.1.2 There shall be no objectionable difference between knife glaze/no knife glaze areas after topcoat. 3.1.3 Film Thickness (ASTM D1186
6、): 0.025 to 0.076 mm. 3.2 Performance Requirements. 3.2.1 Durability. The material must not deteriorate or lose properties when exposed to either production systems or exterior environments. 3.2.2 Stability. Material shall be unaffected by normal storage periods and normal temperature variations. 3.
7、2.3 Humidy and Tape Adhesion (GM4465P and GM9071P). A mimmum visual rating of 8 at 0.025 and 0.076 mm. 3.2.4 Moisture Resistance (ASTM D2247/D3359A and GM907 1P). A minimum visual rating of 8 at 0.025 and 0.076 mm. 3.2.5 Acrylic Crack (GM9505P. Cycle A, 15 cycles). No cracking, blistering or other d
8、eleterious effect must be exhibited at 0.025 and 0.076 mm. 3.2.6 Plant Requirements. After passing 3.1.1, 3.1.4, 3.2.1, 3.2.3, 3.2.4 and 3.2.5 of this specification, this material must perform satisfactorily in the intended plant application as demonstrated by a plant tryout. 3.3 Process Requirement
9、s. 3.3.1 Functional Requirements. The material must continue to perform satisfactorily in the specified production applica- tion. Failure to do so shall constitute rejection regardless of compliance with the other requirements of this specification. 3.3.2 Quality Control Requirements. In addition to
10、 meeting all of the above detailed requirements, all subsequent lots of an approved compound will be required to meet the standards of composition established in the originally approved lot. 4 INITIAL SOURCE APPROVAL. No shipment shall be made by any supplier until representative initial production
11、samples have been approved by engineering as meeting the requirements of this specification. 4.1 Completed copies of the GM Material Safety Data Sheet and Critical Material Register (available from the engineering department or laboratory) or equivalent must be submitted with any new submissions or
12、where a composition change has occurred. 5 SOURCE SHIPMENT RESPONSIBILITY. It will be the responsibility of the supplier to insure that the material is not exposed to temperatures during shipment which would cause the material to fail to meet any of the requirements of this specification. 6 INSPECTI
