、). The primer must not have a toxic or noxious odor. After drying, it must be relatively nonodorous. 3.2.6 Toxicity. The material must not adversely affect those personnel handling it. 3.2.7 Adhesion Requirements. The primer must adhere to topcoated substrates and to urethane sealants 9981450, 99817
、45, 9985684, 9985693, 9986000 and 9986111 such that a cohesive separation of cured urethane sealant results when tested according to specifications 998 1450 and 9981745. 3.2.8 Material Handling. This primer is moisture sensitive. Dry air or a nitrogen blanket should be utilized in production to prec
、lude contact with atmospheric moisture. This primer must be agitated prior to use to preclude settling of solids con- tent. When stored at temperatures below 23”C, it must be conditioned at room temperature (23 + 2C) for 48 h prior to use. 3.2.9 Sensitivity to Alcohol. Slight traces of alcohol or al
、co- hol containing solvents is prohibited for cleanup or other uses. 3.2.10 Staining (GM9027P). The material must not show a migrating stain on production topcoats. 3.3 PROCESS REQUIREMENTS. 3.3.1 Open Time - 30 minutes to 110 h. The primer must be capable of providing acceptable adhesion properties
、 as detailed in “Cohesive Separation Of Cured Urethane Sealant” when urethane sealants 9981450, 9981745, 9985684, 9985693, 9986000 and 9986111 are applied. Acceptable adhesion prop- erties per the following open time must be maintained: After 30 minutes minimum and up to 110 h maximum primer open ti
、me including abuse conditions 35C and 90% RH. 3.3.2 Drying Time. The primer must dry for 30 minutes prior to the application of polyurethane sealant. Painted surfaces that have been primed can be used up to 110 h after application provided it does not become contaminated. 3.3.3 Test Method. Using ap
、propriate 100 x 300 mm painted panel, draw down a uniform 0.005 wet film thickness of primer in one pass. At 0.5 minute intervals, touch primed sur- face with cotton swab. Record time at which no primer transfer to swab as the drying rate. 3.3.4 Link Up Time - 8 h max. A 0.13 mm thick film of primer
、 must link up to the paint substrate within 8 h to a state such that it will not transfer to a strip of 25 mm tape when pulled at a 90 degree angle. This maximum cure time is required for all substrates detailed on 9984300 Sealer Substrate Compatibility Chart H. 3.3.5 Test Method. Apply a 0.13 x 60
、x 254 mm film of primer to a panel coated with the enamel paint coatings detailed on 9984300 Chart H. , 3.3.6 After 5 minutes air dry time, cut an X into the primer film with a razor blade. The X should be approximately 25 x 60 mm. 3.3.7 Apply a strip of 2.5 mm wide tape per GM9071P trans- versely t
、o the primer film over X scribe. The tape should be well slicked down in order to achieve intimate contact with the primer. 19、BONDING 9985657 3.3.8 Immediately pull off the tape from the primer at a 90 degree angle with a jerking motion. Record the amount of primer that pulled off the panel on the tape. 3.3.9 This procedure should be repeated at 30 minute inter- vals until the primer no longer peels off from the panel. The
、 time it takes for the primer to no longer be pulled from the panel is recorded as the link up time. 3.3.10 Brushability. The primer when brush applied to enamel paints substrates must completely black out the paint coatings in one application without streaking. 3.4 Stability Requirements (GM9763P).
、 Material conditioned as described below must be able to pass all requirements of this specification: 3.4.1 Elevated Temperature Stability. The primer, as shipped, must be capable of withstanding 72 h 54C. 3.4.2 Low Temperature Stability. The primer, as shipped, must be capable of withstanding 3 cyc
