、pecific material requirements and appropriate test methods are listed above. These materials are classified according to the surfaces being protected. 3.1 SURFACE DESCRIPTION. Cold rolled oily sheet steel. One side and two side zinc coated sheet steel (Hot dip galva- nized or electrogalvanized). 3.2
、 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES. 3.2.1 Chemical Requirements, No silicone or lanolin com- pounds of any kind is allowed as a component in the material. 3.3 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS. 3.3.1 Corrosion Resistance (GM9617P). This material must provide corrosion and stain resistance that exceeds the perfor- mance of
、 conventional mill oils, for the purpose of protecting sheet metal during extended storage, shipment or against unusu- al corrosion conditions. 3.3.1.1 The material tested per GM9617P must not exhibit more corrosion or staining than the control panels after 1.5. 10 and 15 cycles, with no more than s
、light stain or corrosion being acceptable after 15 cycles. 3.4 PROCESS REQUIREMENTS. 3.4.1 Compatibility with Structural Adhesives (GM3623M). The material must meet the requirements of the specification or limits set by the design engineer. 3.4.2 Welding Requirements (GM9614P). The material must per
、form comparable to or better than the currently approved ref- erence (control) 9981833. 3.4.3 Compatibility with Phosphate System (GM9611P). The panels prepared in 3.1 of this specikation, together with oily GM steel and galvanized steel panels, shah be treated in an ap- proved spray/dip zinc phosph
、ate process. The compound treated panels shah exhibit a uniform, pattern free, phosphate coating comparable to the control panels which have not been processed through any pre-clean system. The phosphate coating should be of acceptable coating weight and crystal size. In addition, pho- tomicrographs
、 shah be taken of both sets after phosphating, and results shall be comparable to the control panels. 3.4.3.1 Crystal Size (GM9613P). Crystal size shah be small to medium when viewed under 250X magnification. 3.4.3.2 Coating Weight (GM9733P) c 3.4.3.3 Paint Requirements. The panels prepared in 3.4.3
、 of this specification shall be painted with either 9984070 high build cathodic ELPO or 9984094 medium build cathodic ELPO and tested in corrosion under GM954OP. Results must be com- parable to the controls. 3.4.3.4 Plant Requirements. After passing 3.4.3 and 3.4.3.3 of this specification this mater
、ial(s) must perform satisfactorily in the intended plant application as demonstrated by a plant tryout. 3.5 PROCESS REQUIREMENTS. 3.5.1 Functional Requirements. The material must perform satisfactorily in the specified production application. Failure to do so shall constitute reason for rejection re
、gardless of com- pliance with the other mquirements of this specification. 3.5.2 Quality Control Requirements. In addition to meeting all of the above detailed requirements, all subsequent lots of an ap- proved compound will be required to meet the standards of composition established in the origina

It will be the responsibiity of the supplier to insure that the material is not exposed to temperatures during shipment which would cause the material to fail to meet any of the requirements of t
、his specification. 5 WASTE TREATMENT. The material must be compatible with existing waste treatment processes so that total removal can be achieved. The supplier of the product will be responsible to make it known to the applicator of this product. 6 INITIAL SOURCE APPROVAL. No shipment shall be mad

、equivalent, must be submitted with any new submissions or where a composition changes has occurred. 7 INSPECTION AND REJECTION. All shipments of material or parts under contract or purchase order manufactured to this specification shall be equivalent in every respect to the initial samples approved
