This spccikation details the requirements of a moldable rigid paint system applied to p
2、olyethylene tere- phthalate glycol carrier films (called painted facesheets). These painted facesheets are then processed into exterior small parts via a 2 step process. The tirst step is thermofoxm- ing the painted facesheet into a painted insert. The painted insert is then placed into the female h
3、alf of a mold and plastic is injection molded behind it to form a painted part. 2 REFERENCED STANDARDS. GM4348M GM9533P GM4364M GM9534P GM4367M 9984052 GM9 163P 9984065 3 REQUIREMENTS. 3.1 GM4367M Exterior Automotive Topcoat Require- ments, specifies the minimum material, durability, compata- biity
4、and processing requirements of exterior automotive topcoats. The painted facesheet shall be processed into exterior small parts or test plaques on which the testing detailed in GM4367M shall be conducted. GM4364M and GM4348M detail the minimum ghss, DO1 and orange peel appearance requirements for ex
5、terior parts. 3.2 9984065 b asecoat/clearcoat is the control topcoat sys- tem for any test method in GM4367M requiring a control comparison. 3.3 The requirements covered in GM4367M which are not applicable to the qualification of this technology are as follows: 3.1.1.2 Viscosity 3.1.1.4 pH 3.1.1.5 R

8、 be tested for exterior paint finish sensitivity to cleaners, waxes and spills as well as plant specific con taminants such as lock grease, battery terminal grease, windshield washer fluid etc. Testing shall be performed according to GM9533P. 3.5 The supplier must suce&tlly demonstrate a field repai
9、r system with the following documentation: Durability - Material - Process - Gravelometer, humidity and tape adhesion. Detail the actual paint materials used in the repair and the market availability. Detail the actual process used to make the repair. This would in- clude all surface preparations, a
10、p plication technique and method of cure. 3.6 The supplier must provide UV transmission curves produced in accordance with GM9534P. In addition the supplier must demonstrate that the bond between the paint and the carrier sheet does not deteriorate in the presence of UV. This can be done by exposing
11、 parts made with clearcoat only facesheet to Xenon weatherometer (Per SAE J1885) and at least 12 and 24 months Florida 3.7 The supplier must established shelf life limitations and storage requirements of both the facesheet and insea includ- ing time, temperature, relative humidity and storage tech-
12、niques. 3.8 KEY PROCESS CONTROL INFORMATION. 3.8.1 The following information detailing the process pa- rameters and limits must be submitted as part of the approval package. Thii information should be presented in a graphic format with accompanying explanation of process parameters and their effect
13、on the appearance and durability properties listed below for the film as molded: Adhesion - Gasoline resistance Chip Resistance - Chemical resistance Mar Resistance - Sensitivity to cleanera, waxes and spills Hardness - Fmessability EZS- Recoatabiity Color Dimensional - Ultraviolet transmission Stab
14、ility The supplier must maintain this information and update as required. 3.8.1.1 Thermoforming Temperature and Tie.
