This specification covers the requirements for a clear thermally cured hardcoat for exterior applications. The coatings in this specificatio
2、n are for protective purposes on plastics. 1.1 These thermally cured coatings are part of a total painted product system and must meet the requirements set forth in this specification and those shown on engineering drawings. This specification shall be used in conjunction with the Approved Paint on
3、Plastics Systems (APGPS), a section of Materials Specification file (MATSPC) which lists approved substrate, cleaning, priming, and topcoat combinations. 2 REFERENCED STANDARDS. 4、E J576C 3 REQUIREMENTS. 3.1 RESTRICTED AND REPORTABLE CHEMICALS (GMlOOOM). By 1997 start of saleable vehicles, all materials supplied to this specification must comply with the require- ments listed in GMlOOOM, “Restricted and Reportable Chemicals.” 3.2 SURFACE PREPARATION. The substrate must be cle
5、an and free of surface defects which would affect photometric performance or appearance. 3.3 APPLICATION. Reduce and apply uniformly to achieve dry film thickness that will meet material and process speciti- cations when used over clear lenses, pad print inks, or paints for decorative and blackout p
6、urposes. 3.4 CURE. Surface of the part must be within the range of time and temperature specified by the supplier for cure. Temperature in oven and ambient temperature must be regu- lated to meet this requirement without exceeding over/under bake specifications. Cure must be checked per GM9509P. 3.5
7、 APPEARANCE. Must present uniform appearance, and be free of visual or physical defects that would aesthetically or photometrically cause the painted part to fail, and must meet the applicable requirements of GM4348M, as shown in Table 1. Coated lens must meet GM4465P with no evidence of blistering or other appearance change
9、s at the end of 96 h followed by GM9071P with a minimum of 99% retention. Coated lens tested to GM9508P with a mini- mum rating of 7. 3.7 APPROVAL. For coatings to be initially approved per this specification, an extended production run must be made to contirm process, appearance, cost, and quality
10、criteria. When testing is satisfactorily completed per the above requirements, approval to this specification will be given. The abrasion resis- tant coatings covered by this specification must be evaluated and approved for each specific lamp design. 3.8 APOPS. For specific system approval refer to
