This specification covers the functional requirements for materials used to seal front of dash compo- nents to the body to pr
2、event water, dust and/or exhaust gas intrusion. These materials am expected to function in the con- tinuous operating temperatum range specified with expected intermittent exposure to automotive industry repair cycles. 1.1 Mateiials covered by this specification shall be classified as follows: VI=1

Type IA material is a oncomponent, non-weldable, foamed-in-place silicon
4、e sealer, robotic applied and cured with or without heat to one surface of the brahe pedal bracket plate assembly to body. No primx is needed for thismaterkl. 1.3 LIMITATIONS. Type IA ma&al can survive a func- tional temperature environment of -55 to 2OO C. Poor resistance to hydraulic fluids (dksel
5、 oit, gas, etc) and chlori- nated or aromatic solvents (naptha, toluene, benzene, etc.). 1.4 NOTE To USER& To properly use GM147M. the fol- lowing information must be added to the engineering drawing 1.4.1 Specify the appropriate GM speci6cstion for the mate- rial and adhesive (if used). 1.4.2 Ident

10、ion as closely as practical (5.6.2). Quality testing (bench) is accelerated testing based on standard tests devcl- aped from known quality performers (5.6.1). Comparison testing is accelerated testing done between materials/designs to initially screen out candidates and is followed by the actual app
11、lication testing. It is recommended that new proposals be compared with current production systems. 4 GENERAL TEST CONDlTIONS. The component and material shall be preconditioned at 50% f 5% RH and 23 C for at kast 12 h prior to testing. 4.1 TEST TEMPERATURES. Room temperature testing shall be conduc
12、ted at 23 C. All temperature tests must be within f 2 C of the specified temperature unless otherwise specified 4.2 Tests shall be conducted using the latest issue of the test methods indicated, This standatd may invoive hazanious mate- . rials, operations, and equipment. This standard does not purp
13、ort to address all of the safety problems associated with its use.Itistheibilityoftheuserofthistocon- sub and establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 4.3 Test sp&mens shall be prepared according to approW prodnction in
14、tent method(s), facilities. and material as agreed between supplier and purchaser. The sealing material must be uniform in finish color and meet all the rcquimrmuns of this specification and any referenced subsidiary specifications, drawings, or other docurrknts. 4.3.1 Part bench testing is the resp
15、onsibility of the Tier 1 source. These tests m for initial qualification of materkk. See 5.2. 6 REQUIREMENTS. 5.1 For vnent initial qualification, unkss otherwise indi- cated, each Fekased production variation (dimensional, mate- rial density, etc.) must be tested on a minimum of five parts with a 1

As specikd on Part detail drawing. 5.3.4 Corr
19、osion Test. For foam in contact with metal sur- faces only. Run three sampks only. For foamed-in-place per 5.7.6 shall replace the wire mesh. Corrosion to both panels by thebeadsshallbelepolted. 5.3.5 Odor Test. Cured-in-place foam should be placed on an inert, non-reactive surface for curing, shapi
20、ng to required surfaceatca,andpermiteasyremovalforplacementintocans. Allow sufficknt time for the mat&al to fully cum before tcst- ing. Under no circumstances should the cure time exceed the minimumtimeapartcouldbeemergencyshippedtoandused by any GM location. 5.4 CURED-IN-PLACE (TYPE I). 5.4.1 Dimen
21、sional Tokrance Requirements. Bead applied cellular material dimensions for height, width and location llrustmezvaluestobypurchaserandsupplierontht detail drawing or layout. The txacl location and m&hod for checking dimznsions should be specifkd in certification pack- ageandsouradocuments. 5.4.2 Qpe
22、 I Material Properties. Type 1 material is a one- component, non-weldable, expanding silicone sealer. It is the responsibility of the raw material supplier and applicator to specify process r&ted uncured material properties, i.e shelf- life, viscosity, etc. and frequency of such testing. A documnt d
