、aster Data. It is intended that all part data exist electronically only once. The master will be of an UGMASTER dataset type within an ITEM/REVISION in Teamcenter referenced by its Teamcenter or GPDS designated part number. 3.2 File Application. A file contains the 3D mathematical definition of a si
、ngle part. Purchased assemblies may be managed in a single file when the parts of assembly do not have GM part numbers. A description of no more than one part may be in any Unigraphics NX part file, however less than a complete part description may be in a file when more than one file is necessary t
、o define a part. A process for managing files when using the Part Family function in UG has not been defined. This function may be explored and will result in multiple part descriptions in a template file. A read only file will exist for each family member and will contain one part description per f
、ile. In Teamcenter, only one UGMASTER dataset type will be stored per ITEM/REVISION. The UGMASTER dataset type contains a Unigraphics NX Master Model .prt file. 3.3 File Types. 3.3.1 Math Data Files. The data must correspond with the required DCS category names that are automatically created by the
、DCS Required Categories program. Required reference sets will be created by using the DCS Organize File program. These files may contain component entities. 3.3.2 Drawing Files. These files will consist of a component entity, which accesses the part or assembly file. This file also contains a drawin
、g format created by the drawing format program or the 11 x 17 format program. Annotation and geometry required to support an engineering drawing may also reside in these files. Geometry for drawing sections is stored in the drawing file and not in the math data files. Drawing files may be stored as
、a UGPART dataset type, in the Specification or the Manifestation pseudo-folder in Teamcenter. 3.3.3 UG Assembly Files. These files are intended to be Unigraphics NX assembly files that contain component entities, which access 3D master geometry from other file types. Copyright 2004 General Motors Co

、 GENERAL MOTORS ENGINEERING STANDARDS Design 2 ELECTRONIC MATH MODEL AND DRAWING DATA CREATION STANDARD DATA ORGANIZATION UNIGRAPHICS NX WITH TEAMCENTER A11B Assemblies will always contain component entities that collect reference sets of the component parts or subassemblies. In most cases, assembly
、 files should not contain math data with the following exceptions: UG Motion UG Harness applications WAVE Geometry Linker Promoted Bodies (Legacy) 3.4 Alternate Representations. The UGALTREP dataset type contains a Unigraphics NX .prt file that is not a Master Model. However, it may be associated to
、 a Master Model file. This dataset type is used for alternate representations of a part that are not the master model (for example: the deformation of a part or a simplified envelope of the part). Unlike a UGPART, a UGALTREP may be used as a component to an assembly. The UGMASTER may be a component
、of the UGALTREP. Any Item Revision that has a UGMASTER under the Specifications psuedo-folder may have any number of UGALTREP datasets under the Alternate Representations psuedo-folder. 3.5 Alpha-Numeric Numbers. Alpha-numeric numbers will be used as a unique item identifier and will not replace GM
、GPDS part numbers. These numbers will not be assigned or tracked by GPDS (Global Product Description System). Alpha-numeric numbers will be assigned by Teamcenter when creating a Teamcenter object or with the Generate Alpha-Numeric program in Unigraphics NX. Alpha-numeric numbers may be used for par
、t positioning files and parts of purchased assemblies that are not assigned GM part numbers. For more details on the specific use of alpha-numerics see Section 8, the Special Applications section of this standard. 3.6 File Identity. 3.6.1 Dataset naming will consist of three fields separated by peri
、ods. 3.6.1.1 Field One. The first field (eight characters maximum) is the GM GPDS part number or Teamcenter alpha-numeric Item ID. 3.6.1.2 Field Two. The second field is the Items Revision Level consisting of three numerics starting with 001. If the dataset is a UGALTREP type, this field is omitted.
