1、 ENGINEERING STANDARDS Material Specification Plastics GMP.PC.001 Polycarbonate General Purpose, ISO Specifications 1 Scope This specification covers the properties of a general-purpose clear and colorable injection molding grade polycarbonate requiring painting when used in areas exposed to ultravi
2、olet light. 1.1 Material Description. 1.1.1 Paintability. Approved paint systems that can be used on this material are listed in the GM Approved Paint On Plastics Systems (GM APOPS) database. 1.2 Symbol. The material abbreviation according to ISO 11469 is PC. 1.3 Typical Application. Typical applica
3、tions include the following: Lamp Housing Interior Trim 2 References Note: Only the latest approved standards are applicable unless otherwise specified. 2.1 External Standards/Specifications. ASTM D1003 ISO 1183 ISO 75-1/2 ISO 7391-2 ISO 178 ISO 10350-1 ISO 294 ISO 11469 ISO 527 2.2 GM Standards/Spe
4、cifications. GM1002M GMW3059 GMW3001 GMW3221 3 Requirements Important physical, mechanical and thermal properties that characterize the material are summarized in charts. The color shall be specified on drawings, in material specifications and otherwise. 3.1 Requirements on Delivery. Material suppli
5、er must certify molding compound properties to the specific GM Test sampling Plan approved for their material. 3.1.1 Requirements on Test Specimens. Unless otherwise specified, injection molding of test specimens shall be accomplished per ISO 294 with the conditions for injection molding from ISO 73
6、91-2. Also, unless otherwise specified, test methods and specimen dimensions are to be in accordance with ISO 10350-1. Test shall be conducted 40 hours minimum after molding and immediately following a conditioning period of 24 hours minimum at conditions per GMW3221, Code A All tests shall be perfo
7、rmed on unannealed specimens. In addition, tests specified at temperatures below or above 22 3C shall be conducted at the specified temperature using specimens conditioned at the specified temperature for 4 h minimum. The minimum values specified in the property tables must be met by test specimens
8、in natural, black, or in a standard sampled color if natural or black are not available. For colored grades where other pigment and additive systems (e.g. stabilizer) are used, the impact values shall not decrease more than 10% from the specified minimum value. 3.2 Chemical Requirements. All parts m
9、anufactured from molding compounds shall be resistant to the media they contact, such as aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, fuels, lubricants, oils, greases and alcohols, at their places of use.
