1、 ENGINEERING STANDARDS Material Specification Plastics GMP.UP.014 Polyester BMC Injection Molded, 11% Glass Reinforced 1 Scope This specification covers the properties of pain- table, metalizable, and bondable injection mold- ing grade of bulk molding compound that is rein- forced with 11% glass fib
2、ers that are about 12.5 mm long. 1.1 Paintability. Approved paint systems that can be used on the material are listed in the GM Approved Paint On plastics Systems (GM APOPS) data base. 1.2 Bondability. The material must meet the bondability requirements of GM3629M. 1.3 This material must be capable
3、of being vac- uum metalized. 1.4 Typical Application. Typical applications include the following: forward lighting. 2 References Note: Only the latest approved standards are applicable unless otherwise specified. 2.1 External Standards/Specifications. 4、90 ASTM D4812 2.2 GM Standards/Specifications. GM3629M GMW3001 GM9077P GMW3059 3 Requirements 3.1 Requirements on Test Specimens. Tests shall be conducted using the latest issue of the test methods indicated. Suitable precautions should be taken to ensure that applicable safe limits are not exceeded
5、 when conducting test procedures, processes, and/or handling the materials required by this specification. 3.1.1 Properties shall be determined using test specimens router cut from injection molded plaques. These plaques shall be molded using the mold temperatures, mold pressure and cure cycle that
6、will be used to mold production parts. Use the mold configuration shown in Figure 1. Plaques shall be 2.5 0.1 mm thick. Weight variation between plaques shall not exceed 3.0%. Do not use the area (50 mm parallel x 120 mm perpendicular to the flow) adjacent to the gate. 3.1.2 Raw materials used for m
7、olding shall be within their vendor defined shelf life. Plaques shall be uniform in appearance and free from blisters, pregels, knit lines, cracks, and surface contamination. Porosity shall be one pit maxi- mum per 625 mm2. Surfaces shall also be free of external mold release. 3.1.3 An equal number
8、of specimens shall be cut from both the longitudinal and transverse plaque directions for each mechanical property. The specimens shall be tested and the results averaged. The average value is the material property value. This value is compared to the required value shown in the Compound Proper- tie
9、s table(s). Tests shall be conducted 40 h minimum after molding and immediately following a condition- ing period of 24 h minimum at 22 3C and 50 5% RH unless otherwise specified. All test- ing shall be done on unannealed samples. 3.2 Compound Properties. 3.2.1 Compound Certification. Material suppl
10、i- ers must certify molding compound properties to the specific GM Test Sampling Plan approved for their material.
