2、ll-Union Product Classification Code) 31 8000 GOST 28466-90 Date of introduction 01.07.91 This Standard applies to horns (typhones) and signal whistles (hereinafter referred to as whistles) for traction rolling stock (locomotives and motor- railcar rolling stock) and railway track machines. Product
3、quality requirements providing its safety for public life, health and property, and the environmental control requirements, stated in Section 1 (except for the note and a part of the table regarding whistles); Sections 2 and 3; clauses 4.1 to 4.4; Section 5, are obligatory. DEFINITIONS Terms with corresponding definitions in accordance with GOST 16504, and also the terms given below, are used in this Standard: Sound pressure is a variable part of pressure, appearing during a sound wave passage in the environment. Sound is mechanical oscillation propagati
5、ng in environments. Membrane is a thin flexible plate, fixed lengthwise the perimeter, designed for isolation of two cavities with different pressures or for separation of closed cavity from common space, and also for transformation of pressure change into linear displacements and vice versa. TYPES AND KEY PARAMETERS Horns and whistles shall be produced according to the requirements of this Standard pursuant to design and technological documentation approved in accordance with the establish
7、ed procedure. Types and key parameters of horns and whistles (provided that the requirements of Section 4 are observed) shall comply with those specified in the table. 9、facturer and the customer of traction rolling stock. (Amended Wording, Amendments Nos. 1 and 2). 2. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 2.1a. General view, overall, setup and mounting dimensions and the allowances shall comply with the requirements of normative documents for horns and whistles, developed and app
10、roved in accordance with the established procedure. (Subsequently Inserted, Amendment No. 2). 2.1. Horns and whistles shall be efficient in climatic conditions specified for appropriate units of traction rolling stock by standards and specifications. 2.2. The horn external and internal surfaces, exc
11、ept for body surfaces contacting with membrane, and whistle surfaces, except for the parts made of noncorrodible material, shall have the appropriate anticorrosive coating. 2.1 and 2.2. (Amended Wording, Amendment No. 1). 2.3. Horns and whistles shall operate at the air pressure from 0.5 to 1.0 Pa.
12、2.4. (Removed, Amendment No. 1). 2.5. Change of pressure of the horn air supply from 0.5 to 0.9 Pa shall not cause the sound intensity level difference of more than 8 dB. 2.6. Zones of possible random moisture or condensate collection and their subsequent blowout in the signal device shall be elimin
13、ated in a pipe for horns air supply. (Subsequently Inserted, Amendment No. 2). 3. ACCEPTANCE 3.1. When monitoring the conformity to the requirements of this Standard, the horns and whistles shall be subjected to acceptance and periodic tests. 3.2. During the acceptance test each horn and whistle sha
14、ll be subjected to monitoring of conformity to the requirements specified in clauses 2.2 and 2.3, and the random sample (3 % of product output, but no less than 3 pieces) shall be checked for conformity to the requirements specified in Section 1 (regarding the sound level). The results of sampling i
15、nspection shall be assigned to the entire batch. If during the acceptance test the horns and whistles are revealed, which do not conform to requirements of this Standard, a re-testing shall be performed on double the number of horns and whistles. The results of the re-test shall be considered final.

Once a year three horns and three whistles of each type, which have passed the acceptance test, shall be subjected to periodic test for conformity to the requirements specified in Section 1 and clauses 2.3 and 2.5. 3.2 and 3.3.
