1、I GENERAL MOTORS ENGINEERING STANDARDS I Materials and Processes - Palnt I PHOSPHATE PRE-WIPE MATERIAL 9994115 1 SCOPE. This specification covers the requiremnts for a phosphate pm-wipe material that can be used to clean off drawing c4mpoullds, mill oils, tJeahts* etc., fkom metal sur- face.Thismate
2、rialwillbcusedinapareaabeadofthe phosphate system These materials may be applied on a fully or partially assembled automobile or truck body with rags, Scotchbrite pads, etc., to mmove contam& prior to paint proassillg. 1.1 sinee the condition of the metal surIace is critical to the proper performana
3、 of the phosphate, the materials used under this specification must not adversely affect the formation of the proper phosphate coating. Therefore these mate&b are con- sidered part of the metal pretreatment proass and shall be supplied by the phosphate vendor in each plant. Any excep tions to this r
4、ule must be first approved by the GM North Ammican Operations (NAO) Paint Rngmeuing Department. 1.2 Specified herein are the material teqttitcments per the GM NAO, Paint Engineering Depamnent. These specifications are used to verify that the materials have been processed to produce a finished produc
5、t of quality consistent with that proven in initial qualification testing. 1.3 RESTRICTED AND REPORTABLE CHEMICALS (GMlOOOM). By 1997 start of saleable vehicles, all mate&h supplied to this specification must comply with the requ&- ments listed in GMlOOOM, “Restricted and Reportable chemicals.” 2 RE
6、FERENCED STANDARDS. GMlOOOM GM4389M GM4386M ASTM D92 3 REQUIREMENTS. See the general phosphate specifl- cation (GM4386M) for additional requirements and requinment details not listed in this specification. 3.1 All requireme nts for the pm-wipe shall be tested for per- formance versus a currently app
7、roved phosphate system without pre-wipe. 3.2 PANEL PREPARATION. See GM4386M. Must meet the requirements listed in GM4386M, 3.1 to 3.4.6 and 3.5.8. Perform these tests for all substrates listed in GM4386M, 3.4.1 (only CRS and EG needed for 3.58). The number of panels pertestshouldbethesameasthatliste
8、dinthcrequiredprocG dute or GM4386M. 3.3 FLASH POINT (ASTM D92). These materials must have a flash point no less than 9OC. 3.4 VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS (VOC). Any qualified material must have a VOC level (of the concen- bate) no greater than .06 kg/L. 35 STABILITY. Material shall be unaffected by
9、normal stor- age periods and normal tempemture variations. 3.6 PROCESS REQUIREMENTS. 3.7 MIXING. The compound must be a conantrate which can be applied to the body in a concentmtion ranging from full sttength to a 1:3 dilution with plant water, to be specified by the supplier. 3.8 FUNCTIONAL RBQ UIR
10、EMENTS. The material must perform satisfactorily in the specified production application. Failure to do so shall cons&u& reason for rejection ngardless of compliance with the other requirements of this specification. 3.9 QUALITY CONTROL REQ WREMENTS. In addition to meeting all of the above detailed
11、requirements, all subse- quent lots of an approved compound will be required to meet the standards of composition established in the originally approved lot. Referena original infmred spectra and gas chro- llXUOgllUllS. 4 SOURCE SHIPMENT RESPONSlBIlJTY. It will be the responsibility of the supplier
12、to insure that the material is not exposed to temperatures during shipment which would cause the material to fail to meet any of the require- ments of this specification 5 INlllAL SOURCE APPROVAL. No shipment shall be made by any supplier until tcpresentative initial production samples have been app
13、roved by engineering as meeting the requilemellts of this specification. 5.1 Completed copies of the GM Material Safety Data Sheet and Critical Ma&al Register (available from the engineering department or laboratory), or equivalent, must be submitted with any new submissions or where a composition c
14、hange has OccuIred. 6 INSPECTION AND RWECTION. All shipments of material or parts under contract or purchase order manufac- tured to this specification shall be quivalent in evety respect to the initial samples approved by engineering. There shall be no changes in either formulation or manufacturing
15、 processes permitted without prior notification and approval by engineer- ing. Lack of notification by the supplier constitutes grounds for rejection of any shipment. While samples may be taken tirn incoming shipments and checked for confotmana to this specification, the supplier Shall acapt the res
16、ponsibility for incoming shipments mating this specification without depen- dena upon purchaser s inspection. In addition the supplier shall be responsible for submitting a CERTIFICATE OF ANALYSIS with each batch of material arriving at a plant. This document shall be prepared and provide data in ac
17、cord- anawiththereq uirements detailed in GM4389M. 7 APPROVEDSOURCES. Engineering qualification of an approved source is required for this speeificat& Only sourceslistedintheGMCorporateMa&alsFileunderthis specification number have been qualified by engineering as meeting the requirements of this spe
