This specification details the requirements of an extruded, rigid, flowable sealer. The material is intended to melt and flow during oven ba
2、ke in order to seal body joints against water, dust and air intrusion. 1.1 The material must be a smooth homogeneous mixture free of air, lumps, unmixed particles and foreign materials. 1.2 The material must adhere to E-coated steel or SMC as detailed on the Sealer Substrate Compatibility Chart for
3、each approving division. Low Bake System (All Types): 25 minutes llS C cool to room temp Type A: High Plow (supersedes 99842281A & 9984232/A) Type B: Low Plow (supersedes 9984228/B & 9984232/B) Type C: Low Bake SMC/Low Plow (supersedes 9984225) 25 minutes 115 C The material when baked as described a
4、bove must not crack nor lose adhesion to the substrate during or after the following conditions: Initial: 2 REFERENCED STANDARDS. GM4465p GM9763P GM9832P GM9010P GM9780P ASTM D792 GM9011P GM9801P GM9505P GM9828P 3 REQUIREMENTS. After cooling at ambient conditions for 24 h. Exterior Cycle (GM9505R Cy
5、cle P): 6 weeks. Heat aging: 14 days 7o c Humidity (GM4465P): 3.1 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES. 168 h 38 C /lOO% RH 3.1.1 Specific Gravity (ASTM D792) 1.0 to 2.0 typical. However, an individual specific gravity range for each approved source shall be set at the time of approval to this specification. This sp
6、ecific gravity shall become a requirement of that approved material. Cold Resistance (GM9OllP): l ivo 1.7 J impacts -30 C. 3.1.2 Solids Content (GM9OlOP) ., 98% min by mass 3.1.3 Odor (GM9832P). The sealer must not have a toxic or noxious odor. After curing, the sealer must be relatively non- odorou
7、s. In addition, the ED 5. value of its odor shall be pro- vided at the time of approval if requested. 3.1.4 Toxicity. The material must not advcrsly affect those personnel handling it. 3.2.2 Plow. When baked horizontally on an ELPG primed panel (also on SMC for type C) per the appropriate bake sched

One set of sealer panels per each SMC or ELPG primed substrate aa detailed on the Sealer Substrate Compatibility chart

Apply 2 beads of sea
10、ler, 35 x 2.5 x 180 mm to the surface of a phosphated steel panel (inspect first to be sure it is free of surface corrosion). Bake panel for 1 h 205 C. Remove the panel from the oven and allow to cool to room temperature. 323.1 Remove one sealer bead from the panel. There must not be any corrosion o
11、n the panel surface under the sealer bead. 13、el after humidity test. There must not be any corrosion on the panel surface under the sealer. 3.3 PROCESS REQUIREMENTS. 3.3.1 Smoke (GM9828P). The material must not smoke up to 19o c. 3.3.2 Blocking. The sealant materials, as packaged, must not stick together when stacked one on top of another and
14、sub- jected to 55 C for 72 h with a 500 g load applied. 3.3.3 Tack Material must have no tack in the uncured state. 3.4 STABILITY REQUIREMENTS (GM9763P). Material conditioned as described below, must be able to pass all requirements of this specification: 3.4.1 Elevated Temperamre Stability. The sea
15、ler, as shipped, must be capable of withstanding a temperature of 54C for 72 h. 3.4.2 Low Temperature Stability. The sealer, as shipped, must be capable of withstanding 3 cycles as detailed in 3.123 of test method GM9763P. 3.4.3 Storage Stabiity. The shelf life of the material shall be 90 days at te
16、mperatures not to exceed 3X. The shelf life on the material commences upon receipt of the material from the manufacnaer. 4 SOURCE SHIPMENT RESPONSIBILITY. It will be the responsibility of the supplier to insure that the material is not exposed to temperatures during shipment which would cause the ma
17、terial to fail to meet any of the require- ments of this specification. 5 INlTlAL SOURCE APPROVAL. No shipment shall be made by any supplier until representative initial production samples have been approved by engineering as meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 Completed copies of th
18、e GM Material Safety Data Sheet and Critical Material Register (available from the engineering department or laboratory), or equivalent, must be submitted with any new submissions or where a composition change has occutred. 6 INSPECTlON AND REJECTION. All shipments of material or parts under contrac
19、t or purchase order manufac- tured to this specification shall be equivalent in every respect to the initial samples approved by engineering. There shall be no changes in either formulation or mamtfacturing processes pexmitted without prior notification and approval by engineer- ing. Lack of noticat
20、ion by the supplier constitutes grounds for rejection of any shipment. While samples may be taken from incoming shipments and checked for conformance to this specification, the supplier shall accept the responsibility for incoming shipments meeting this specification without depen- dence upon purcha
21、ser s inspection. In addition the supplier shall be responsible for submitting a CERTIFICATE OF ANALYSIS with each batch of material arriving at a plant ThisdocumentshaIlbeprepamdandprovidedatainaccord- ancewiththereqhmem detailed in GM4389M 7 APPROVED SOURCES. Engineering qualiftcation of an approv
22、ed source is required for this specification. Only sources listed in the GM Corporate Materials File under this specification number have been qualified by engineering as meeting the requirements of this specification.
