1、GENERAL MOTORS ENGINEERING STANDARDS I Materials and Processes - Plastics I NYLON 6 - HEAT STABILIZED, WEATHERABLE GMP.PA6.024 1 SCOPE. This specification covers the properties of a 4.2 COMPOUND CERTIFICATION. Material suppliers heat stabilized, weatherable, pellet form, injection molding must certi
2、fy molding compound properties to the specific GM grade Nylon 6. Test Sampling Plan approved for their material. 1.1 APPLICATIONS. Qpical applications include the fol- lowing: unpainted exterior trim such as escutcheons, end caps, mirror liners. 4.3 COMPOUND PROPERTiES (NATURAL AND BLACK). See Table
3、l. 2 REFERENCED STANDARDS. 4.4 COMPOUND PROPERTIES (INTEGRALLY COLORED). See Table 2. GMlOOOM ASTM D790 ASTM D4066 ASTM D256 ASTM D792 ASTM G7 ASTM D638 ASTM D1897 SAE J1545 ASTM D648 ASTM D3418 SAE J1960 ASTM D789 ASTM D4019 5 SUGGESTED COMPOUND VERIFICATION. Inherent compound properties and test p
4、rocedures that may be used to identify this material are listed below. The test value and test procedure requirements are identical to those listed in Section 4, Compound Properties. 3 TEST PROCEDURES. Test shall be conducted using the latest issue of the test methods indicated. Suitable precau- tio
5、ns should be taken to ensure that applicable safe limits are not exceeded when conducting test procedures, processes, and/or handling the materials required by this specification. Heat Stabilizer Content Infrared Characterization Scan Melt Point Relative Viscosity Specific Gravity 3.1 Test specimens
6、 shall be injection molded according to ASTM D1897. Test specimens shall be 3.2 f 0.2 mm thick unless otherwise specified in this GMP specification. Izod specimens shall be cut from the centers of the 127 x 12.7 x 3.2 mm bars. 3.2 Tests shall be conducted on dry-as-molded, unannealed test specimens.
7、 These specimens are to be sealed in water vapor impermeable containers immediately after molding and maintained in the sealed containers 22 f 3C until the time of testing, 24 h min after molding. Tests shall be made 22 + 3C unless otherwise specified. 6 COMPOUND AND SOURCE APPROVAL. Each vehicle gr
8、oup and component division will have its own approved compound list derived from the corporate plastics file (MATSPC). No shipment shall be made by a new source until a sample of the compound manufacture at a production facility has been approved by the appropriate vehicle group and/or component div
9、ision. Shipment receipt and certification requirements will vary among receiving locations. 3.3 COLORFASTNESS EVALUATION PROCEDURE. The color of each test specimen shall be measured per SAE 51545, CIELAB color space, 10 observer, illuminant D65, specular included, sphere geometry, before and after e
10、xposure. 6.1 Complete copies of the Material Safety Data Sheet meet- ing the GM information requirements must be submitted with any new submissions or whenever a composition change has occurred. 3.3.1 FOR WASH AND POLISH PREPARATION: Wash and polish weathered specimens prior to making mea- surements
11、 and observations. Wash, with scrubbing action, using a sponge that is saturated with a solution consisting of 2 g No 7 Car Wash Concentrate (distributed by Armor All Products, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656) and 1 L deionized water 22 rt 3C. Polish with No 7 Auto Polish And Cleaner (distrib- uted by Armor A
