ONGC has drawn up a US$5bn proposal to pro
2、duce more than 9bcm of gas per annum from its finds in the KG Basin by 2013. The plan also envisages producing around 8,000b/d of oil from some of these fields. ONGCs production estimates are expected to increase once its ultra-deepwater finds, further east of its current acreage, come into play. Th
3、ese are expected to yield anything between 56bcm and 400bcm of gas. Considerably greater investment will be required to confirm and develop these resources. For the existing KG Basin discoveries, ONGC has increased its reserve and production estimates. Originally, it had projected pumping 4.4-5.5bcm
4、 annually. The latest plan, submitted to the regulator for approval, puts the reserves of the present acreage at 180bcm. ONGC will develop the discoveries in parts of the KG-DWN-98/2 Block, along with other fields on adjoining acreage. ONGC has estimated that the development of three western offshor
5、e fields will add about 15Mcm/d to Indias gas production over the next three or four years, ONGCs director of exploration, D.K. Pande, revealed to oil price agency Platts on September 1 2010. The three fields B-12, C-23 and C-24 are estimated to have total gas reserves of 97.2bcm and recoverable res
6、erves of 42bcm, according to Pande. Located among the Daman Offshore fields, the three were discovered in 2007. To handle their output, ONGC intends to build a new gas processing facility in the state of Gujarat, for which land acquisition is already under way, according to Pande. The three fields a
7、re north of the prolific Bombay High, Mukta, Panna and Bassein fields, and are just south of the BG Group-operated Tapti block. Pande estimated India Oil salt-leached caverns in Andhra Pradesh and in North India; and lined-rock caverns in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jharkhand. In 2005, ONGC
8、 and GAIL (India) agreed to build a 1bcm gas storage facility in Rajasthan and brought in GDF Suez as a consultant on the project. The project did not proceed, however, apparently owing to technical reasons, but also in our view owing to the upward revision in projections for Indian gas production a
