14、es of particular types or for particular applications” which, together with BS 4999 “General requirements for rotating electrical machines”, will eventually contain a comprehensive series of British Standards for rotating electrical machines. This Part is identical with IEC Publication 34-13 “Rotati
15、ng electrical machines. Part 13 Specification for mill auxiliary motors” published in 1980 by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). A list of the contents of BS 5000 showing all the Parts envisaged in the foreseeable future is given in the general introduction and index which will be
16、brought up to date as new Parts are published. The contents of BS 4999 are given in a separate index and introduction to that standard. Terminology and conventions. The text of the International Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as a British Standard without deviation. Some term
17、inology and certain conventions are not identical with those used in British Standards. Attention is especially drawn to the following. Wherever the unit symbol “rev/min” appears it should be read as “r/min”. Marking. In Clause 22, item b) shows an example “IEC 34-13 (1980)” which should be read as
18、“BS 5000-25”1).
