BS 5415-2.
、4 is one of a number of Sections that specify the requirements of particular industrial and commercial floor cleaning appliances. It should be read in conjunction with BS 5415-1 which it confirms, departs from, adds to or modifies. To facilitate reference to BS 5415-1 this Section has the same claus
、e, subclause and figure numbering and the same appendix lettering. Additional subclauses particular to this Section are numbered with the main clause number followed by .101, .102, etc. The foreword of BS 5415-1 should be read in regard to suitability for use in work activity to which the provisions
、 of Health and Safety at Work etc. Acts apply, compliance with Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations and enablement of the granting of certification of innovative products. Certification. Attention is drawn to the certification facilities offered by BSI described on the inside back cover of this

、trical high pressure water/steam cleaning appliances that may employ water-borne cleaning agents in which the pressure is produced by pumping and not exclusively by heating in a boiler, is not less than 25 bar1) but not more than 250 bar and where the hydraulic power at the cleaning nozzle does not
、exceed 9 kW. This standard does not apply to the following: a) appliances designed exclusively for household use; b) appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas). For appliances intende
、d to be used on board ships additional requirements may be necessary. For appliances intended to be used in tropical countries, special requirements may be necessary. 1.2 This Section is concerned with safety and takes into account the influence on safety of components that are necessary to achieve
、a required degree of radio and television interference suppression. NOTE 1This Section is applicable to the electrical part of appliances making use of other forms of energy but it is essential that the influence of the non-electrical parts is taken into consideration. NOTE 2The titles of the public
、ations referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Definitions For the purposes of this Section of BS 5415-2 the definitions given in BS 5415-1:1985 apply with the following modification and additions. To 2.2.30, this definition being replaced by the following. 2.2.30 normal

Plugs and sockets situated near the work site or outdoors should be to class IP 55 of BS 5490 to provide adequate protection against ingress of water, etc. and cable entries require effective sealing. R
、ubber shrouds should be provided over cable glands. Drip-proof (class IP X2 of BS 5490) plugs and sockets to BS 4343 are suitable for use indoors where the plug is away from the water spray area where the appliance is in use. The following additional subclauses apply. 7.102 Detachable hoses and tool
