13、randed conductor, p.v.c. insulated, single” and Part 4, “Distribution wires with solid conductors, p.v.c. insulated, in pairs, triples, quads and quintuples”. 17、id or stranded conductors, PVC insulated, in pairs, triples, quads or quintuples, as used, for example, inside telephone and telegraph exchanges and for the internal wiring of electronic and other equipment. NOTEThe titles of the British Standards referred to in this standard are listed on the insid
18、e back cover. 2 Class Equipment wires covered by this specification are classified 1 and 2 in ascending order of insulation thickness as shown in Table 1. 3 Requirements 3.1 Equipment wires conforming with this specification shall meet the general requirements of BS 4808-1 and when tested in accorda
19、nce with the methods specified in BS 4808-1 shall meet the detailed requirements given in Table 1, Table 2 and Table 3 of this Part of the standard. 3.2 The insulation shall consist of PVC compound complying with the requirements of BS 6746: Type 2. 3.3 For wires with conductors of 0.6 mm nominal di
20、ameter, the maximum length of lay shall be: 60 mm for pairs; 70 mm for triples; 85 mm for quads; 100 mm for quintuples. For conductors of nominal diameter other than 0.6 mm, these values shall be multiplied by where d is the nominal diameter of the conductor in millimetres. For cables with stranded
21、conductors, the value of d is the nominal value quoted in Table 1. 3.4 All equipment wires shall be subjected to a spark test at the voltage detailed in Table 2 applied to the insulated conductor before twisting. 3.5 The flammability test specified in 3.2.2 of BS 4808-1:1972 is not applicable. 3.6 M
