、vised British Standard has been prepared under the direction of the Machinery and Components Standards Committee and supersedes BS 5755:1980 which is withdrawn. This second edition brings together the requirements given in International Standards ISO 3320, ISO 3322, ISO 4393, ISO 4395 and ISO 7181 p
、ublished by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and adopts the identification codes for mounting dimensions specified in ISO 6099. The ranges of dimensions specified in this British Standard are provided to assist designers of fluid power cylinders in the knowledge that the basi
、c materials and components, such as seals (e.g. BS 5751) and cylinder barrels (e.g. BS 5242), would be readily available. It is expected that the dimensions of additional features, such as connection ports, may be added at the next revision. For the mounting dimensions of various standard ranges of
、fluid power cylinders, which have been designed around the basic features specified in this standard, reference should be made to the various parts of BS 4862 (pneumatic cylinders) and BS 6331 (hydraulic cylinders). 16、5755:1986 BSI 12-19991 1 Scope This British Standard specifies ranges of dimensions for the following basic features of hydraulic and pneumatic fluid power cylinders: a) bore diameter; b) piston rod diameter; c) piston stroke; d) piston rod thread; e) nominal pressure. Ratios of the effective workin
、g areas of either side of the cylinder pistons are given in Appendix A. NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Definitions For the purposes of this British Standard the following definitions apply. 2.1 cylinder a device which converts f

、3 Cylinder bore The cylinder bore shall be selected from the range of diameters AL shown in Figure 1 and listed in Table 1. 4 Piston rod diameter The piston rod diameter shall be selected from the range of diameters MM shown in Figure 1 and listed in Table 2. 5 Piston stroke The stroke of the piston
、 rod shall be selected from the range of strokes S shown in Figure 2 and listed in Table 3. 6 Piston rod thread If provided, the thread at the end of the piston rod shall be selected from the types shown in Figure 3, and the sizes listed in Table 4. 7 Nominal pressure The nominal working pressures o
